I'm a guitarist, a bassist, a drummer, a pianist, and occasional vocalist. naturally, I make music!

I don't know how many of you are musicians, but surely there must be some. so let's hear it, if you actually exist.

I play the electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass guitar, and every once in a while I'll sing.

I don't actually have any tracks up, but here's a picture of me on stage (far right)


That was almost a year ago, since then I bought another electric and an acoustic. It's a good way to relax

lol it's not a live recording, I recorded it at home.

I did drums first using an electronic kit and just looped the drum beat to infinity, and then I played guitar over it and that's what came out.

incidentally, I added bass to it earlier. might want to listen through headphones or surround sound if you've got them, phone sound and laptop sound probably won't have audible bass guitar.

you should try six string power chords

if you can read tabs they go like this

basically you use your index finger to bar the whole first fret, put the ring and pinky fingers in typical power chord form two frets down, and the middle finger on the fourth string of the second fret.

the key is to let it ring and you have the kind of chords I use in both of my tracks. they're hard to do because you have to hold them down very tightly or they don't work.

That's pretty good, A Louder Guitar sounded very nice.

I don't have any instruments but I've tried to make a bit on the computer using various free programs. Mostly it has just been stitching premade things together or changing instruments on USSR anthems and I don't really think that I've made anything good I can attribute to myself really.
In the end even though it's more fun to make something original, I still enjoy messing with music. It's more important that it sounds good than where it comes from imo.

Spore had a fun anthem editor you could use to make small, short music pieces where you could actually choose the notes, so I used that a bit many years ago. I made the intro I used to put on my YouTube videos in there (plus some Audacity editing), and the music in these vids is from there.

Then there was Aviary that Atomic told me about, kol, which was re-arranging premade music pieces, I used that to make the music in the first three Map War 2 vids, I think the stuff in the first one ended up well.

Now I mostly use LMMS which is a pretty good, free program Matty showed me. Has lots of features and lets you edit notes.
