<Kalassak> i wonder if you could solve that the earth orbits the sun by using only lunar phases (and maybe angular diameter/libration)
<Kalassak> hmmm
<Kalassak> no but it appears the discovery of inferior planets having phases does prove heliocentrism
<Kalassak> we should have a planet inferior of universalis
<Kalassak> that is pretty much as close as possible
<Kalassak> to make (some) phases visible to the naked eye
<Kalassak> and have a great middle ages battle over helio and geocentrism
<Kalassak> until telescopes were developed

in universalis physics gravity is actually proportional to N(earthmass,1e20kg)/d^2

geocentrism is more than a false myth

it is real.

well a Y star is about 200 to 300 C at the surface which is pretty cool....pun intended.

also we wouldn't have to bother rotating because our year would be as long as a day, and revolution would cause a day-night effect. So tidal locking isn't a problem

So I'm just going to flat out say it right now; I think maybe we should think deeper about star spectral type. If we sfick with our K class star our years would be only ~230 days long compared to Earth's which I think is. . . Short. (Unless someone can convince me otherwise).

Here's what I want to ask everyone: why a K star instead of a G2, an F9, or an M7 for the sake of example. Are there any benefits or reasons to go with a K star?
longer life
shorter year would be pretty interesting, quick seasons
smaller solar sytem, closer planets (i'm not sure on the math, but it might make it easier to travel around the solar system?)

Actually only Uranus receives the majority of it's heat from the sun, the other gas giants generate enough of their own heat that it's more than what they receive from the sun.

I can accept switching to G7 or G8. I'd like to know more precisely how tall the tides could get on Muniversalis before voting for it.

[21:33] <a187> A day 310.2381 seconds long, at an orbit of .879 AU. To sustain a surface temperature of that like Earth, we would need 118% of Earth's greenhouse gas warming.
