Has to do with both.

So if i have an i7-4770k overclocked to 4GHZ and a gtx 760 do you think i would be fine running intensive collisions because it has been fine for the 120 hours i've played it but I want to increase fragment amounts

Idk, Why dont you try it? I mean the worst that will happen is that you get lag.

I think the best screenshots come from the surface camera.

Also, where was the option to increase the number of fragments that are created? I know there was one,
but I can't find it.  ::)

I believe the option you're looking for is "Max Non-Attracting Bodies." Its found under "settings" in the "general" tab. The default amount is 1024. Set it to 10,000 or higher so you can see an appreciable difference. Your performance may take a hit though. But that's okay, we're doing this in the name of science, of course. ;)

NEW VIDEO
In this Video I demonstrate the Fragmentation of bodies in close orbit with the earth.
This was recorded at 60fps in 2560x1080 resolution.
There are roughly 7000 Particles orbiting at the time of recording.

Simulation Specs:
Performance Throttling Disabled
33,000 Particle Limit
500 Attracting Body Particles
Fragment Size: Exaggerated

All aboard the screen shot train! Been having fun with the new fragmentation, as you can see. :D

If you want to see them full screen, open them in a new tab, that way you'll see it in all its fiery, hi-res glory.
