Those galaxy "rings"...
« on: December 19, 2012, 01:33:00 AM »
How would I go about changing the amount of particles for each galaxy?

I know I can replace an existing ring but the "add ring and replace" thing is a little bothersome when they're based on planet scales rather than galaxy scales.

Anyone know what the settings for the galaxy particles are eg. inner ring in km/outer ring in km for existing galaxies?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Two ideas:

1
Under the gear icon, scroll down to "Advanced Options" and change the # x slider from 1 to 2. Now reload a galaxy simulation or create a new galaxy. The particle count is now doubled for galaxies created or loaded afterwards. Change it to 5 and the particle count is 5 times the default.

2
Create rings with an inner of "1000 ly"and outer of "50000 ly"
That's the size of a good size spiral galaxy.

Aaah... Well that first one a nice and easy.

The second one I'll have to try out when creating a new simulation. Righnot I was just trying to get a little more detail out of the existing simulations.

Many thanks...

PS: While I have you, I'd just mention that the simulation with "lots" of moons is also a fun little accretion simulation. On a small scale obviously but maybe some more simulations of eg. planetary body formation in the future? :)

And thanks again for a great and fun program.
