environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong
anti-business politics. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 500 million are either
ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a
conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defense, although Law & Order and Education are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of
Boston. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 63%.
Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.
Euthanasia is legal, racial and religious segregation has become rife as the various groups are loath to mingle, cars are banned from built-up areas, and
corporations donate huge sums of money to favored politicians. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Aeridani's national animal is the Tabby Cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the New Dollar.
