What My Brother is Writing

From his tumblr's blog... Was going to post on "So I made a tumblr blog" but felt it was kinda off topic-ish.

Dr: So are you guys Chinese? Laos?
Us: No, we're Hmong. Hmong and Laotians are descendants from Chinese.
Dr: Do you know anything about the number 8?
Us: No we don't, why?
Dr: Oh okay, well I was just wondering, my girlfriend used to live in San Franciso and had a lot of Chinese friends during her childhood.
Dr: And she told me that her friends said that in Chinese, the number 8 is lucky.
Dr: And my last name in Spanish... Ochoa... means eight!
Dr: So when I have Chinese patients, I'll tell them to come my way.
Dr: "Hey! Go with Dr. Lucky! With a name like that, what could go wrong?"
Dr: You know, it's also handy with the Chinese girls too!

So at the doctor’s the other day for my dad, he’s turning fifty-eight soon. 58.

I’m thinking… time really does fly by, huh?

I hate to admit it, but slowly time is progressing forward and forward, never stopping for anyone or anything. The cold, hard fact that is time.

I just keep picturing him as the man in his mid-40’s who still enjoys carrying oversized walkmans around listening to oldstyle Laotian and heavy metal Hmong music. Who still works at the bean sprout factory to support the family. The one who acts arrogant cause he can be. The one who picks me up late at school though I didn’t care too much about it.

The day he had a heart attack, I was pulled out of Mr. Taylor’s class that very day to visit him in the hospital, where we honestly thought we were going to lose him, forever. If that happened the family wouldn’t be able to face reality. The whole time IB May Exams were going on, he was still being hospitalized.

Slowly, ever since then, he’s been slowly getting better.

But when the doctor told him, “you won’t be able to do any work with extensive physical labor ever again due to your age and condition”, I guess it just hits me, time passes by without us realizing it.

But, he is a happy old geezer who enjoys talking to strangers and watching anything Hmong related on the TV.

So I found out Castillo knows that I am ‘coming back’ to Sacramento… creepy stuff. He’s even asking about me. How does he even know? I don’t know either. Only logical explanation would be that he implanted a microchip into one of the former IB physics students for reconnaisance and intel. @_@…
