So I was fiddling with different buttons in US and this started happening and I recorded it.

I found these really cool ..well not sure what to call them. Just watch.

Gets really cool at around 6:40

If you wondering what's so special. Except this! US ART!

I remember how I got it actually! I got that by putting a 3D grid around the moon, and turned color to velocity.

Be cool if others will try it out and show some crazy designs.

TIP: Increase planet density to give it more pull on objects! xD

That video was great. I'll add it to the User Video section soon.

Awesome.

Something else to try... Add grids or rings around moons of planets (like the Earth's Moon or a moon of Jupiter).

Not to be rude, but...

Awesome Dan. Thanks.

I shall mess around with this effect on different situations and see the outcomes.

Or create a grid and then shoot a large planet (like Jupiter) into it.
And then change the color to velocity (like you've done before).

The first part of your video where you create grids around the Sun and end up with wild patterns is because the time step is too high. The particles end up with such a high velocity that they jump through the star and escape its gravitational pull. It's a limitation of the simulation that causes this and is not what would actually occur in reality.

I remember how I got it actually! I got that by putting a 3D grid around the moon, and turned color to velocity.

Just restating the idea to be clear. The lack of acknowledgment was unintentional.

Yeah. Just neat how a high time step can give you some neat patterns

Thanks. Very fun to try to make unique patterns.

And with the new version of Universe Sandbox that's in the works... You'll have better (and more obvious) tools that will make simulations like this even easier to create.

In fact... The next release will be the first time that Universe Sandbox will have an adequate toolbox for controlling the simulation unfolding in front of you. I can't wait to share it with everyone.

Didn't think it would be this popular! =P

That because it's awesome. Smiley
(although that claim comes with obvious bias)

And personally... the video was extremely satisfying to watch. It's very humbling to watch videos of Universe Sandbox created by people other than me.
