Ever thought of selling universe sandbox in stores?

It wouldn't be a free offer.

Moreover, selling US in shops has its costs: the CDs, the boxes, shipping prises, licenses (maybe), etc. This can't be done with free offer. US should have a minimum price so that these things can be paid.
Downloading it from the internet, instead, has nearly no cost.

And you need publicity ;). Nobody is going to sell games if they don't know the brand. That would be risking their money.
