I guess I should warn people of potentially scary stuff that may be posted in this topic so we can post freely.
No, I will not just give up this easily. (http://universesandbox.com/forum/index.php/topic,9749.0.html) Anyone here playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent? It's really a fantastic game if you're fascinated by torture and pain.

I really like how many effects there are in the game, you never really know if what you sense is real or hallucinations. Your sanity drains in darkness so you may hear voices, tones, etc. and your vision becomes blurry and odd when moving. When you look at monsters, this also happens, combined with them making noises and music effects, this makes a fantastic effect if you put on some hearphones in a dark room in the night. :P
The game slowly tells an interesting story as you play it as well.
Today I found these amazing notes on torture we'll be sure to utilize in Red Rainbow. Also took a screenshot of a picture which looks very odd and seems to change look depending on your sanity level. I also recorded some videos I might upload sometime if anyone's interested.
I think this video is good at showing the intense moments the game can give, even though the monster seems glitchy in it:

I generally don't like games like this because they seem to rely too much on using gore or shock tactics to make you scared.

Oh also a game that's good at being creepyish is Dear Ester, no jumpscares or gore, but an eerie narration, and the sense of being followed or watched.
And you are, there are ghosts at several places throughout the story that are just in the distance.

I like how that was pretty much done with one of the Boston bombers and that didn't seem to work so well.

Completed the game today. The wiki has many interesting pages and can make the story more clear, but spoils a lot, so it should not be read if you plan to play through the story.

Interesting, they're developing a new game SOMA, hopefully it'll be as good as Amnesia, I red that Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs was a disappointment gameplay-wise and more like an interactive movie, haven't got it for this reason, if anyone else has, I'd love to know if it's worth getting.
Anyway they write SOMA is expected to come out in 2015.
