no |x| means absolute magnitude so |-4| = 4
|-4||-4|+|-2| = 4*4+2 = 18
the problem i'm discussing in this thread is that
|a|-b|+c| = |(a|-b|)*c|
but
|a|-b|c| = |a|(-b*|c|)
