Title: My Computer has a virus.
Post by: mrt127 on February 29, 2012, 11:44:31 AM: Hi, as you may know I have not been on the forums recently. This is because my computer caught a virus. It deleted a lot of files on my computer... including Universe sandbox. all my textures, screenshots and simulations were deleted even the program itself so I might not be able to play anymore. >:(

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good antivirus program imo, and it's free.

Post by: Bla on February 29, 2012, 12:04:12 PM: You should upload the rest of your important files to something like Dropbox or back them up if you have an external hard drive... And try to get support so it can be removed without/before it getting worse.

I already had anti-virus but it was able to get past it, I can't remember what was it called though.

Was it regularily updated?

You should also get an anti-spyware program because they can catch things that the antivirus doesn't detect or clean up properly.

Especially if its a rootkit and it has dug itself in too deeply for the antivirus to root out. Happened to me once with AVG and a rollback fixed things.

Post by: tuto99 on December 25, 2012, 03:08:18 PM: When I caught a virus on my computer, it basically slowed it down, a lot. The only way I fixed was to restore the computer back to factory settings.
