b. How Do I Submit A Cave to the Catalog?
To submit a cave to this catalog, all we really need is either the discoverer and surveyor(s), or the designation code. It would be best to submit both. Simply, post the information in this thread, and I will add it with the next corresponding number.
c. Discoverer
The person who discovers the cave is considered the person to either a) first go inside, or if no one has been inside the first overhang of land, b) the first person to acknowledge the fact the cave exists (say, in the chat for example).
d. Surveyors
The surveyors are the people who layed out the torches and carried out the designation surveying procedure.
e. Designation Code
The designation code is made up of 4 numbers, separated by either a comma or hyphen. Each of the numbers is a "description element" for the cave. The first number is a major element of the cave, depth. The lowest point of the cave is measured, and noted.
The second number is, and can be much more sophisticated and difficult to come by. This number denotes a number of things, not only the amount of branches in the cave, but if there are any secondary entrances that were not noted or were designated by something else first. To arrive at this number, a detailed survey of the cave is needed. For many, this is really simple, as you can see on the catalog. Many caves simply have a 0. This means no branches were noted before the end of the cave was reached. If there are branches, it's straight forward. Simply count the amount of branches there are. To simplify this task, enter the leftmost branch, and work around the cave, at each branch counting up another number. When secondary and tertiary entrances are involved, you MUST by all means, MUST count from the leftmost branch in the way described above. Starting from the primary entrance (called 0a), use the branch number, and use the next alphabetic letter available. If there is a secondary entrance on the last branch (the rightmost), then simply call it xb. If this is not the case, the total number must be added to the end.
The third and fourth numbers are really simple, but not really in complex caves. All you need to do is count the number of water springs, and lava springs. In that order, they are added to the end of the cave designation.

I like it a lot, it's just not as sandboxy of a sandbox game. There's a lot less content, and yet they'll be charging as much for it as Minecraft. Also it doesn't seem like it's going to be very mod-friendly. (Minecraft doesn't actually support mods with an API or anything, but it's easily moddable so I consider it mod-friendly.)

I'm constructing a horse racing track and I have only half-surveyed the land and I don't know how practical it will be, but here are some proposals for paths.
Orange -
Pros: currently completed scouting
Cons: some massive elevation changes, really large track
Notes: it exhibits the diverse biomes around the village, even passing by it near the start-finish, path has already been scouted. This course would be an endurance course with the works, speed, obstacles, turns, everything
Green - Village Course
Pros: close to village, watch from your house, exhibits village, small
Cons: might be in the way, things might be in the way of the course, "closes village off"
Notes: I would have to do some logisticy things to make this work, which is not a problem, but I would have to consult practically everyone. This track would be mostly obstacle-free and as flat as possible.
second map is some rough elevation/tunnel/canyon plans without surveying
Cyan - Short Alternate
Pros: short, uses front stretch of long course
Cons: trees??? i haven't looked at the elevation around there, so maybe that
Notes: This will be made if the orange one is completed as a shorter alternate. This would probably be an obstacle-filled track that... might have trees on it. Slaloms and hurdles, easy right?
Yellow - starting gates
Notes: I'm not sure where to place it, and these are only valid for an orange/cyan layout, they would be moved closer for a green one, likely.
Most likely layouts: orange/cyan, green, orange/green
If I can get the green layout sorted out tomorrow, then maybe green/cyan is a possibility, but green will be a lot of digging.
to best view the layouts/map, download the file and zoom in with some paint program or windows image viewer thing
