I'm not sure. But AFAIK, every other map game on the forums came from Naru's World Map Game.
The games that aren't maps:
2 are from another forum (The Person Below Me, The Poem)
~3 were randomly made by deoxy (Numbers)
1 was a game in real life (Word Game)
1 was a game I came up with (Fridge)

I made Map War 1 (http://universesandbox.com/forum/index.php/topic,1157.0.html) myself, and based Map War 2 (http://universesandbox.com/forum/index.php/topic,1493.0.html) on it (and decided to make zones like in other map games, like Naru523's world map game).
Don't really think I got especially inspired by other map games, just wanted one with strict rules and fair systems so how much land you claim doesn't become subjective. And in 2.1 I also invented some strategy into the game. :P

I probably got my idea from my original map simulation of a planet I called "Zargonoxia". It was on YouTube for a moment, but I removed it later, when I simulated maps on Laktra (on NeutronStar's Solar System Creator Wiki). Generally I think the idea of making a map war is simple and doesn't require so much inspiration from outside places, so I don't think we need that place to explain our map war memes on this forum. :)

Indeed, when The Earth Socialist State is heading directly towards it. :) Even though I don't think it's a militaristic socialist state (most examples of militaristic socialist states we've seen contradict the points of socialism itself, but that can't stop countries from claiming to be socialist of course).
ESS is very scarsely populated, however. I'll find out how militaristic it is if war breaks out. :P

I got bored. Made a hmong population map. Darkest color = atleast more than 1000 hmongs living there
pink = atleast 10 hmongs living each square mile
gray = very little to no hmong living

Actually they do, it's just that the islands/city states are pretty small, so it can be easier to color.

You won't have to bring your military though - you can already see what the culture is doing. We can even speak your language, the only thing we can say in perfect American is "Oh my god!" though. The rest will probably be Danglish.

I also think UN could be a great organization... But I think they need to define their human rights much more clearly. Human rights are meant to be rights which CANNOT be questioned by hateful majorities, protecting people who could be oppressed by majorities in democratic countries (not that the usual countries which do it are democratic).
Not long ago, killing LGBT people was close to be ripped off the UN list of condemnations, because of influence from leaders of very religious countries. Luckily they did not succeed, but the fact that it could even be CONSIDERED not condemning nations for killing people who live out their lives as they're born naturally, makes me extremely disappointed with the UN.
