Title: Torus shaped planet
Post by: Yla on December 28, 2015, 08:36:01 PM
Hej everybody,
Recently, I've an isea for a imaginary world : a torus planet.
And I wanted to see what coud happen with this kind of planet, How a Moon could orbit, what will be the trajectory of an objet launched inside the torus, what happen on the center etc.

So, I wonder if it is possible to create a torus planet (or other kind of weird and impossible planets), and if it's physics will be supported by Universe Sandbox ?

You currently cannot make such a planet, but you are right that it would be interesting to see.
The gravitational calculations do not support it and the collision detection does not support it but you mde me want to add it :-)

This is a interesting question. Isnt there a paper describing the wierd tidal forces of elongated objects in orbit?

The closest I can get to one is just putting together a bunch of asteroids, but it only stays like that on pause.
