I got the game yesterday. Installed it via Steam but cannot get it to work. Starts loading and then i get an error message:
Universe Sandbox x64.exe has stopped working.
I verified game cache, checked connection with Steam, even tried re installing the game and it's still not working.
I need help or I need my money back!

Sorry for the trouble.
Have you tried forcing CPU mode?
Please see this solutions thread for instructions: http://universesandbox.com/forum/index.php/topic,13207.0.html
If that doesn't fix it, please see if you can find a crash dump file.
On Windows, the files are located in a folder named with the date the crash occurred. You'll find these folders in the root directory the game was installed to, usually located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Universe Sandbox 2\
If you see a crash folder please attach all of its files here.

Hi,
same here.... just purchased the game but it keeps crashing on startup. I am using steam and a 64 bit windows 7.
I got the exact same error message (or at least the german equivalent).
no crash file in ...\steamapps\common\Universe Sandbox 2\
force cpu didnt work
safemode didnt work
complete reinstall didnt work
disabling anti virus didnt work either
Can anybody help me?
thx in advance
-
Nope. Still don't work. I tried -forcecpu, -safemode and -forcecpu -safemode, but still doesn't work. I can't even find the crash dump. Any other suggestions?

Can you post your log file? There may be some information in there that will help.
It's named output_log.txt, and should be in here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Universe Sandbox 2\Universe Sandbox x64_Data
-
since i face the same error, I attached my output_log as well

Sry took me long. Had schoolwork and all, but I hope you can put this to good use:
-
Do you know if it has anything to do with viruses affecting the installation? Since my computer just got a boatload of viruses from an unknown source.
-
Unfortunately those log files aren't telling us too much.
Repodudeify, that's likely not a factor, but if you've just recovered from some viruses it may not hurt to try re-installation again.
Do either of you know if you are able to run other games made in Unity?
We may have to wait to see if this mystery issue is fixed in Alpha 15, as we've made a lot of changes which could have addressed whatever is happening.
-
Yes I am able to run other games on Unity.

Same problem here. Game runs fine on my mac, but it crashes on startup on my pc while loading data.

You could also try what I have to do in order to play: launching the game in compatibility mode (doesn't really matter which one you choose).
-
Nope. Same problem, whatever comp.mode I choose, the game crashes on startup.
amdocl.dll caused an Access Violation
OpenCL causing trouble? I have an ATI Radeon HD 4800
-
We've had a number of issues with the ATI HD series and OpenCL. Disabling OpenCL on startup should allow the game to run in most cases.
We're hopeful that Alpha 15 will fix this issue when it releases.
