Title: Make black hole a bit realistic [Idea]
Post by: wubbzy301 on January 01, 2015, 06:38:07 PM
It look unrealistic, but if you point the black hole with a earth that its front of the black hole it duplicates. It should not be like this. I confirmed this isn't a bug.

Screenshots is below this post.

Happy new year!

Edit: It doesn't duplicate but duplicates into black hole.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here, that if you point a black hole at the earth, it duplicates it?

If you're saying that it's an unrealistic scenario, it's a bug.

Actually, this is normal. You should read up on gravitational lensing and how it can create these effects.  ;)

A minor bug.

Again, it's not a bug.

Does this seem realistic? Just add rings.

It probably doesn't look realistic, because a planet wouldn't be existing that close to a black hole to get that sort of effect.

It would be at best orbiting at an incredible speed, and likely undergoing huge amounts of tidal forces, to the point it was quite literally stretched out, or ripped apart.

In regards to the lensing effect, while we can't do it computationally perfect, the effect is as reasonably close to accurate as we can get in a realtime rendering situation.
