Title: suggestions
Post by: blotz on March 22, 2014, 06:20:32 PM
add the simulation name at the top of the program
like
Universe Sandbox - Lagrange Test

How about adding spacecraft models?

universe sandbox is about nature, not about mankind changing it other than the lights on earth. However, I think there's Probe 1 or something in one of the test simulations i found

And yet there are manmade human scale objects.......

The probe 1 is just a tiny sphere.  Still though, it would be cool to be able to fly around some spacecraft models.

I didn't want a pilot sim, it's just that I am making a fictional universe that I intend to make with Ubox and I would like stuff like space stations for this alien race I made.

smjjames those are dice and bowling ball, they're a asteroid with a lower mass and better texture, not a rocketship

Well, actually Chris is working on space elevators, so, yeah.

dan you should add simulation like smallest things to largest things. from like mars' moons to vy canis majoris

Good idea, but that could easily be done in chart mode.

I know... How about civilization development? Like the city lights keep intensifying over time and maybe even city lights appearing on nearby bodies after the first body has reached maximum city light count? Also maybe a slider should be added for how intense the city lights are?

I have a great idea that shouldn't be too hard to implement: being able to save bodies and having them appear in the list of objects in the Add Tool so that you can mess around with them later.

Lensflare for stars? Probably should have on/off button.

Good point, I haven't see a screenshot of it in action but I imagine having too many stars on the screen with that fx would slow the refresh rate down and perhaps give somebody a headache.
That's why I suggested the off/on button  :P

Its already implemented.

Not that kind... The visual effect. You know, the rainbow circle with the rays and polygons?

A good example would be this:

Ah right yes, I thought you meant a solar flare, cant say ive even seen a lensflare in the game.

what is flare frequency?
Title: Re: suggestions

Suggestion: collisions should increase temperature and fade over time. Also solar flares look... Strange and unnatural. More like cut-up ribbons, actually. But this is the first time anyone has done a solar flare simulation, let alone anything even vaguely like Universe Sandbox. I think that solar flares need to be more opaque and be the same color as the star, but what we have now is beyond what I thought would come in 2012

Also flares are very 2-D

Is it possible that we can have a slider for vegetation level? That would be awesome. Maybe set a prerequisite of a certain minimum water level and atmospheric level? And be able to change the color of the vegetation from green to purple. Heard in a minuteearth video that an earth-like planet/moon could have purple plants instead of green because of something to do with photosynthesis and remaining light wavelengths. Anyway, would be a very cool feature to see in later versions or possibly even in the initial release.

From Whithehole:
You also witness the extinction of life on account of an asteroid or planet.

A mode to be able to see a graph that levels everything out into a 2-D plane but shows the gravity wells? THAT, would be awesome. I have to give credit to Vaclav for kickstarting me on thinking about that.

I don't understand what you mean...
Having a top view of the scene or a side-view ?
Because there is already an option that allows to see the gravity wells (well, the grid and it's deformations I mean) ^^.

Wow, haven't seen the gravity grid, that is very cool.

A good example would be this:
Lens flares, not a big fan of them myself, but would be cool enough as an option you could turn on and off.

Where did you find the option for the gravity wells.

Where did you find the option for the gravity wells.
1: Click view in a simulation
2: Click 'Show potential grid'
3: Click 'Show grid'

Then it'll show up when you click on a body.

I recommend a 1,500 2,000 3,000 and 3,500 degree celsius version of Earth. Photo of 1,500 degree earth is first, 2,000 degree earth is second, 3,000 degree earth is thrid, and 3,500 degree earth is fourth. Because we have 500 1,000 2,500 5,000 10,000 20,000 50,000 100,000 and 1,000,000 I believe we need to make it 500 1,000 1,500 2,000 2,500 3,000 3,500 5,000 10,000 20,000 50,000 100,000 and 1,000,000. I also recommend a test of the Sun becoming bigger, lighter, redder, brighter, and colder, eating the first three planets. The Sun becomes like Pollux, orange giant, and like Arcturus, Aldebaran, and some more redder, bigger, and brighter stars. Here's an example in a photo:

I recommend a 4,000 4,500 5,500 and 6,000 degree celsius version of Earth. Not needed when you can make all of those in seconds. It'd just clog things up.

How about when a star is small and bright, instead of just appearing larger to seem brighter, it has a lens flare effect something like this:
