Blavision
Like eurovision, but for architecture on the blacraft server Enter up to 3 structures with up to 10 screenshots each not totalling over 30 screenshots. Each entry should contain the name of the structure, screenshots, and coordinates. Screenshots should all be in the default minecraft texture pack. PM entries to me. Deadline is January 22
When entries are released, vote for 10 structures in order of preference. An Instant-runoff voting system will be used. No self-voting. Voting deadline tbd.

Kaktoland Collective Storage will officially donate 3 awards to the top 3. Highest rank gets to pick first. The awards are:
256 glowstone blocks 192 sandstone blocks 128 iron ingots
If there are 5 entries or less, the prizes will be reduced by 75%. If there are 5-8 entries, by 50%. If there are 8-12 entries, by 25%.

i was going to use instant runoff voting, but that would be impossible because there are way more entries than voters, so we'll use a point system i just came up with five seconds ago
rank n is awarded 1/n points. i don't know if this is mathematically sound but that can wait for the next round. as an adjustment, since smjjames did not vote, his entries will each recieve an additional -(1/2)*(1/2)*(1/1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5) = -.5708 points
ordered: polania and iron foundry tied: 1 point jaguar temple: .4292 points spawntown cartographium: .333 points guodesia embassy: .25 points mooscow bridge: .25 points kaeshar revolutea bridge: 0.0125 points
there's no significance to first place in blavision so i probably won't bother with any tie breaking.
the theme for the next round is transportation infrastructure. deadline for entries is april 1st. I'll decide on the new scoring mechanism between now and then. instead of just vanilla screenshots, do you think we should also allow one or two video clips and different texture packs/renders?

Disappointed to see so few voting. I think we should have this be twice per year or something like that so there will be plenty of time to make new entries.
As for texture packs, I think it should be vanilla, if you've built something it should appear in the contest like it would appear to people by default. Video clips, that should be ok, but with something like a 20-30 second limit.

hmm. twice a year seems a bit long, but i see your logic. how about holding it this way: i'll leave this next round open until there are a reasonable amount of entries (30+), and see how long that takes.

no ones submitted anything yet. to encourage submissions, a bonus will be given to each submission. the bonus is proportional to the time between submission and the deadline, and it will not exceed 100% of the score. haven't worked out the details yet.
