Title: Lagrange points
Post by: Crazyfist on May 22, 2011, 09:08:34 AM
Is there any way to move/place objects into the lagrange points? I can't seem to find one, and if there isn't; it would be really cool if there was a possibility into placing stuff in lagrange points. (so that they would stay there as well as possible).

Agreed entirely - would be good.

That and being able to create a Klepper Rosette.

Would be nice if we could do Alderson Discs and Ringworlds as well
But - Ho Hum - NVM.

Supposedly you can highlight the points:

http://universesandbox.com/help/controls/ (http://universesandbox.com/help/controls/)

by hitting "control" while hovering over the body in question.  There's also supposed to be a manual option to highlight them in the "mathematical" section of the "physical properties" tab.  There's not in my version, for whatever reason.

Kemplerer Rosette you mean? You can do this and the lagrange points by modifying the xml file inside the ubox file in which you want to do this. I believe there is a page that explains some of the XML file tags, but I think Dan is redoing them, so I don't know. You'd simply put them in the same SMA, and then a different mean anomaly...

I thought you could turn on Lagrange points and put the desired object at the point.

Not yet. You can turn them on and manually line up an object with the point, but I agree there should be a way to snap an object to any Lagrange point.
