Title: [FIXED] Huge temperature bug?
Post by: lmgg on August 26, 2014, 03:44:02 AM
Two asteroids with a diameter of about 85 m collide with a velocity of about 10 km/s. After they merged, the temperature of the system reaches over 140000 K. It seems the temperature change is far higher than physically expected, isn't it? (at least for me)

I've calculated, and i think it's double the expected temperature change, but i'm probably wrong, thermodynamics isn't really my field. Want to ask opinions :)

A similar thing happens here, but on black holes. Launch Jupiters at a black hole. It will not only glow but will get extremely hot. Also, the temperature won't get lower. The more Juipters I launch, the hotter it gets, until infinity.

On the other hand, when I launch Jupiter at a star, its temperature doesn't increase

Temperatures should be a lot more reasonable in 10.1

I've tested in 10.1. The temperature gets to about 4700 ºC maximum, it seems much more reasonable.

Cool, Thanks, I'll close this one for now.
