I second this. It's the most practical approach to creating custom planet surfaces in US2. The other proposed approach would require the integration of 3D sculpting tools into a software that is already memory intensive.

You'll be able to load your own textures, including heightmaps. No estimated timeframe, but it's planned and will arrive pretty soon.
