I don't see how "survival values" and "self-expression values" blend, link to the study that made the chart?
I also seriously question the accuracy of the y-axis, Russia is placed slightly above the Netherlands on secular-rational values for example, as far as I can see reactionary and traditional values are much stronger in Russia than The Netherlands. When was the chart made?
And categories... English-speaking grouped with blends of past ideology, continents and religions... Questionable

But we could probably make some interesting charts for USF with inspiration from it still.

Edit: I see

Traditional values emphasize the importance of religion, parent-child ties, deference to authority and traditional family values. People who embrace these values also reject divorce, abortion, euthanasia and suicide. These societies have high levels of national pride and a nationalistic outlook.

Secular-rational values have the opposite preferences to the traditional values. These societies place less emphasis on religion, traditional family values and authority. Divorce, abortion, euthanasia and suicide are seen as relatively acceptable.

Survival values place emphasis on economic and physical security. It is linked with a relatively ethnocentric outlook and low levels of trust and tolerance.

Self-expression values give high priority to environmental protection, growing tolerance of foreigners, gays and lesbians and gender equality, and rising demands for participation in decision-making in economic and political life.

There are so many problems with those definitions but I think I'll just spend my time on better things than wasting it on that chart.

kol. no idea, and we could probably modify the axes completely. i just like how the continents are remapped onto another two dimensional space, it's pretty cool

Some thoughts and suggestions:
- Make notes on the country abbreviations saying which countries they are
- I think we really need to do something about the years, does it make any sense to measure time in Earth years? Does it mean our history takes place simultaneously as Earth history, and our nations are at roughly equivalent development levels as Earth nations at those times?

I think it would be better to pick our year length, pick some reference year as 0 for our planet, and then base things on that.

You can add your nation here and write their values into the political compass:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhyGV27WETcEdERNZDdGWURFLUJhUUptRC1sMTE0Qnc&usp=drive_web#gid=2

You don't have to take the test for each of your nations to write the scores in, unlike in the compass with people. Just write the values where you intend the nations to be. I copied values from people onto their "main" nations but you'll probably have to adjust them.

Based on it we can make ideological maps of Universalis sometime.

the coastline layer of the cusfm map is the plot of the function of land with x and y as arguments. everything is data.

its just derivatives, eventually you'll reach a graph that is just 0

I could tell, but not why you felt a need to be sarcastic about it. It's not like the document had a pop up reminder to tell me I hadn't made it publicly editable when I put the link on here and I hadn't used it for months.

Should we start working on the humanoid inhabitants of Universalis? We could make some polls to decide their main features.

1: Should the inhabitants on our planet be actual Earthly humans? (yes/no)
I vote no.

2: Should the inhabitants who established the different countries on our planet belong to the same species? (yes/no)
I vote yes.

3: Number of legs?
2 (my vote)
4
6
8
1
3
pi
etc.

4: Number of arms?
2 (my vote)
4
love operator applied to vector of length lenin(e) of a gas constant-dimensional vector field
etc.

5: Skin/hair colors?
- Varying like those of humans (it seems like work has begun on making this for different countries in a Google doc already)
- Other color spectrums possibly

6: Hand types (if no to 1), number of fingers on each hand, whether they should be human-like, maybe like bird-claws or something else...

7: Foot types, same as above

8: Mouth/beak/etc.

And based on the polls, I suggest we design an example of the species in Spore, then we can vote yes/no to the examples, suggest changes etc. and at last hopefully agree on how the creatures should look.
