[BUG] Mercury is a White Dwarf
« on: October 04, 2014, 02:46:21 AM »
This is what I did to get the bug. I was unsure if it requires any of the steps below, so I included all of them:

1. Open "Solar System | All Moons" (Open>Solar System Variation>All Moons)
2. Select Mercury
3. Add 7081 Milky Way masses to atmosphere
4. Delete Mercury
5. Click Control/Command+Z (undo)
6. Mercury appears as an infinitely bright point of light, as seen below:

Well, to be fair, it's atmosphere DOES have a mass of 7081 freaking milky ways... Maybe this isn't a glitch?

I mean, the planet doesn't even exist, just it's atmo.

Actually, I've seen that before where I deleted some fragments and undid that action, the fragments appeared as reddish orange spheres of energy like in the screenshot, except orange.

I actually posted a screenshot of it on the screenshots thread.

They were mars fragments actually.

I replicated it without changing the atmosphere of mercury, though there isn't any bright glow in the middle of it.

If I remember correctly you can't delete the body, rename it, or edit it.

There's a couple issues/bugs that your clear reproduction steps show:

- Adding mass to atmosphere doesn't change the mass of the body (or affect the orbits of other bodies)
- Undo doesn't restore the exact same body

Merging the atmosphere mass with the composition system is one of the next big tasks to complete. And undo is still very much incomplete and in-progress.

Thanks for pointing this out.
