Cells called <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Solar_granule\">stellar granules<\/a> are created when currents of plasma bring bubbles of superheated materials from the interior to the surface. Star surfaces are too bright for the human eye to see any detail, so we\u2019ve used false colors to make these granules visible. For stars between 8 and 20 times the mass of the Sun, the remnant is a neutron star. Stars over 20 times the mass of the Sun leave behind a black hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/universesandbox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Stellar-Remnants.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6358\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>More Highlights<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>NASA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/lucy\/\">Lucy spacecraft<\/a>, named after the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lucy_(Australopithecus)\">Lucy fossil<\/a>, passed nearby asteroid Donaldjohanson, named after the fossil\u2019s discoverer, on April 20, 2025. This flyby was a test run before Lucy begins its main mission studying the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jupiter_trojan\">Trojan asteroids<\/a> that share Jupiter\u2019s orbit.
