Oh wow this is good, it looks like old analogue tv distortion. What are you doing?

well it's hard to explain, but to do it without math, i'm breaking up the image of the cat into waves, then graphing the size of the waves onto the second image.

to explain with a gif:

the starting graph is like the first image, and when the thing is turned on it's side, that shows the second image.
