So I figured i'd post something here whenever avaaz emails me something to spread the awareness.

"Avaaz—meaning "voice" in several European, Middle Eastern and Asian languages—launched in 2007 with a simple democratic mission: organize citizens of all nations to close the gap between the world we have and the world most people everywhere want.

Avaaz empowers millions of people from all walks of life to take action on pressing global, regional and national issues, from corruption and poverty to conflict and climate change. Our model of internet organising allows thousands of individual efforts, however small, to be rapidly combined into a powerful collective force. (Read about results on the Highlights page.)

The Avaaz community campaigns in 15 languages, served by a core team on 6 continents and thousands of volunteers. We take action -- signing petitions, funding media campaigns and direct actions, emailing, calling and lobbying governments, and organizing "offline" protests and events -- to ensure that the views and values of the world's people inform the decisions that affect us all. "

"Honduras is just days away from approving an extremist law that would put teenagers in prison for using the morning-after pill, even if they've just been raped. But we can stop this law and ensure women have the chance to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

Some Congress members agree that this law -- which would also jail doctors or anyone who sells the pill -- is excessive, but they are bowing to the powerful religious lobby that wrongly claims the morning-after pill constitutes an abortion. Only the head of the Congress, who wants to run for the Presidency and cares about his reputation abroad, can stop this. If we pressure him now we can shelve this reactionary law.

The vote could happen any day -- let’s show Honduras that the world won't stand by as it jails women for preventing pregnancy even after sexual violence. Sign the urgent petition calling on the President of the Honduran Congress to stand up for women’s rights. Avaaz will work with local women's groups to personally deliver our outcry."

I signed that one.

We should also include All Out imo.

I got this e-mail. I don't think Putin will do anything whatsoever on this issue but it's always good to show your support.

Sergey is an attorney in Russia. He's straight - happily married for 16 years - and until last week would not have been called an "activist".   But tomorrow he will got to court, be fined and maybe even thrown in jail because he held up a banner in Saint Petersburg and told the truth:

“A dear family friend is lesbian. My wife and I love and respect her … and her family is just as equal as ours."

Sergey was among the first to be arrested, but thousands more could follow.  Right now, Russian officials are fast tracking a plan to extend Saint Petersburg's "gay propaganda" law to the entire country.

Will you sign and share Sergey's urgent letter to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin asking him to denounce this law before the trial TOMORROW?  He has the power to end this, but we need to build the massive outcry tomorrow that will force him to pay attention:

www.allout.org/standwithsergey

Supporters of the law claim that it would "protect children," but Sergey's arrest makes clear the real intention.  This law is really about making lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) people disappear in Russia's second largest city. And not just LGBT people - the law will muzzle millions of straight people who care about their LGBT friends and family. Now that lawmakers in the Duma (the federal legislature) are debating a version of the law, this despicable law could go national - unless we fight it now.

The world, including many Russians, are starting to wake up to the idiocy of this law. From the Russian Human Rights Ombudsman, to the Presidential Human Rights Council, more figures are stepping up to tell Russia how this law is a flagrant violation of human rights. The law is being challenged in the courts, and it's losing popularity as it reminds people of a very ugly part of history when people were silenced - or worse - for speaking their mind. The law also breaks just about every international human rights treaty obligation that the country is a party to.

That's why Sergey is appealing to the one person whose influence over the political process in Russia could annul this unconstitutional law in Saint Petersburg, and make sure it isn't rolled out nationwide - Prime Minister Putin. Sign now, then share Sergey's letter to the prime minister with everyone you can - let's make sure he knows the whole world is watching:

Thanks for going All Out,

Right now, the US is poised to pass a new law that would permit US agents to spy on almost everything we do online. But we can stop them before the final vote.

Companies that we trust with our personal information, like Microsoft and Facebook, are key supporters of this bill that lets corporations share all user activity and content with US government agents without needing a warrant in the name of cyber-security -- nullifying privacy guarantees for almost everyone around the world, no matter where we live and surf online.

If enough of us speak out, we can stop companies that profit from our business from supporting cyber-spying. Sign the petition to these key net corporations now:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_cispa_corporate_global/?vl

The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) would allow companies doing business in the US to collect exact records of all of our online activities and hand them over to the US government, without ever notifying us that we are being watched. No warrant, no legal cause and no due process required. To make matters worse, the bill provides the government and corporations with blanket immunity to protect them from being sued for violation of privacy and other illegal actions.

The bill’s supporters claim that consumer information will be protected, but the reality is that huge loopholes would make everything we do online fair game -- and nowadays, from banking to shopping, our private information is all stored on the Internet.

CISPA is being moved forward in Congress and will be voted upon in days. Let’s raise a massive outcry to stop corporations from giving the US a blank check to monitor our every move. Click below to take action:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/stop_cispa_corporate_global/?vl

This year, we helped stop SOPA, PIPA and ACTA -- all dire threats to the Internet. Now, let’s block CISPA and end the US government attack on our Internet.

Dear friends,

Uzbekistan's dictator is forcing doctors to cut out women's uteruses without their knowledge or consent to control birth rates. It’s a hideous and brutal attack on women by a US-backed dictator. Call on US Secretary of State Clinton, a champion for women's rights, to immediately cut off her support for the dictator. Click below to sign:

Uzbekistan's dictator is forcing doctors to cut out women's uteruses without their knowledge or consent to promote 'birth control' across the country. It’s a vile and bloody crime against women being orchestrated by an odious strongman, and now is the time for it to end.

Karimov is one of the world’s worst dictators, he’s even boiled opposition activists alive. Yet he’s propped up by millions of dollars from the US government, which pays him for military transport across the country. The latest round of brutality against his country’s women has turned the global spotlight on this monster. Let’s use this awful moment to persuade his biggest backer to ditch him.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can reinstate military sanctions and push the US and other powers to lift any and all support. She has already publicly condemned Karimov for human rights abuses, and this most recent assault on women's rights -- a topic she champions -- only ups the stakes. Sign the petition below calling on Clinton to end Karimov's reign of terror and stop the brutal attack on women:

https://secure.avaaz.org/en/uzbekistan_sterilisation_meme/?vl

Activists estimate tens or even hundreds of thousands of women were sterilised secretly when they went into the hospital for a routine procedure or to give birth -- waking up with no idea that their uterus had just been removed. One Uzbek gynecologist admitted, 'Every doctor is told ... how many women are to be sterilised ... my quota is four women a month'. The use of arbitrary arrest and torture is so widespread that women don’t speak out for fear of reprisals, and foreign journalists and human rights activists are routinely thrown out of the country.

It doesn’t have to be like this -- the US could play hardball with Karimov, who relies on the steady flow of money from transit to Afghanistan to fund his lavish lifestyle. The human rights horror show in Uzbekistan has gone under the radar for years -- but we have a real chance to break the silence now, using the explosive BBC report that details forced sterilisations, and stand with the brave Uzbek women who have dared to tell their stories in the face of stunning oppression.

Join the call for a victory for justice and human rights in the war on women – click below to sign the petition to Clinton:

https://secure.avaaz.org/en/uzbekistan_sterilisation_meme/?vl

Time and again, Avaaz members have stood up for the rights of women around the world. Let’s join together now and remind the US that opting for human rights or national interest is a false choice -- and that we’ll continue the fight for women's rights wherever they are threatened.

With hope and determination,

Eww, y do people do this

Dear friends,

The Avaaz site is right now under massive attack by what an expert tells us is likely a government or large corporation. We're still standing, but the attack is threatening our continued campaigning. We urgently need a defence fund to increase our security -- let's show the attackers they can't silence us, and their attempts will only make us stronger:

Right now, the Avaaz website is under massive attack. An expert is telling us that an attack this large is likely coming from a government or large corporation, with massive, simultaneous and sophisticated assaults from across the world to take down our site.

We were expecting this. Our people-powered campaigning has been fearless, and we've taken on the world's worst actors head-on, in ways that genuinely hurt them - from the Syrian and Chinese regimes to Rupert Murdoch, Big Oil and organized crime. The Syrian dictatorship called our campaigner 'the most dangerous man in the world', and a UK inquiry recently revealed emails between Murdoch's news corporation and top levels of government saying the Avaaz campaign against Murdoch was their biggest concern. Sometimes I lie awake at night wondering when these people are going to come after us.

And it's begun. Because of top-notch security, our site is still up, but it's not enough. We need to show these actors that when they attack Avaaz, they're messing with people. And people-power can't be intimidated or silenced, it only grows stronger. Click below to donate to an Avaaz defence fund to take our security to the next level, and show our attackers that whatever they throw at us only makes us stronger:

https://secure.avaaz.org/en/massive_attack_on_avaaz_a/?vl

National authorities have been alerted to the attack. But we urgently need the defence fund to help us:
rapidly build industrial-scale security so that no attack can stop us campaigning
hire top hackers and technologists to manage our systems, defend us and test our defences
increase the physical security of our most vulnerable staff in places like Lebanon and Russia
take a range of other actions to improve our technology and security
Avaaz is a lightning rod that channels voices from across the world, from incredibly brave Tibetan, Russian and Syrian demonstrators risking everything for their freedom, to Bolivian indigenous communities saving their forest from being chopped in half. These people face intense danger, and repelling this attack is just another front in their and our struggle for democracy.

Millions of us have campaigned to keep corporations and governments from censoring and controlling the web. Now one of them is trying to censor us. So far, we're still standing, and our amazing member-funded systems mean that we can run this appeal for support safely and securely. But our campaigning is under real threat. We need to act, and show that these tactics only make us stronger:

https://secure.avaaz.org/en/massive_attack_on_avaaz_a/?vl

Avaaz can stand up to governments and corporations only because all of our strength, legitimacy, and funding comes from people, and people alone. We don't accept money - any money - from governments, corporations, foundations, or even large individual donors. It's extremely rare among large civil society organizations today, but 100% of our money comes from small online donations, and we don't accept gifts over 5000 Euros from anyone. That's why we're independent, and that's why we're a threat to those who put power before people. Let's keep being a threat.

With hope and determination,

Ricken and the whole Avaaz team.

Signed this: http://www.avaaz.org/en/a_new_plan_to_save_the_planet/?vl

Dear friends,

In three days, world leaders could agree to a plan that could stop climate change! The plan would transfer the $1 trillion our governments give to polluters every year and invest it in renewable energy. Key leaders including President Obama support ending these crazy payments, and he is hosting the G8 summit this weekend. Let's build a massive public campaign for Obama to lead this plan that could literally save our planet! Sign the urgent petition:

This weekend, the eight most powerful leaders in the world will meet at the G8 summit and could agree to a plan that could literally stop climate change!

It’s crazy, but right now, our governments give nearly $1 trillion a year of our taxpayer money to Big Oil and Coal to destroy our planet. Key leaders, including President Obama who is hosting the G8, have already agreed to stop these polluter payments. Now, if we demand they act on their word and divert this huge sum into renewable energy, experts say we could actually save our planet!

It's a simple no-brainer that our leaders have already agreed to. Let's hold their feet to the fire, and push President Obama to lead the world's largest economies to turn these polluting subsidies green. Sign the urgent petition below and forward this to everyone -- a massive campaign now can force them from talk to action:

The only reason we shovel cash into the coffers of Big Oil is their lobbyists have a stranglehold on our governments. But if we demand that our leaders green our tax-money, we’ll increase total global green investment by 400% making solar and wind energy cheaper than oil and coal -- in the process saving the planet by putting Big Oil out of business!

We’re rapidly reaching a point of no return on climate change and a treaty to prevent catastrophe is years off. Fortunately, momentum behind this new planet saving plan is building. New Zealand, Mexico and Switzerland are calling for an agreement now, and policy makers from 20 countries including the US, Brazil, and China have just voiced their support. All G8 leaders have publicly committed to ending these dirty subsidies, and right now President Obama is pushing for US legislation to stop them.

Our planet is being destroyed at a terrifying rate and this is our best chance to stop it. Now is the time for action, but without massive public support, the powerful polluters could stall the proposal. It's up to us to counter the lobbyists with extraordinary people power. We have three days left to get Obama to lead. Sign the petition:

For too long, progress on a global solution to climate change has been held back by self-interest and the profits of Big Oil, Coal and Gas. But, finally governments are realising that cutting subsidies will benefit the climate and help balance out the global economy. If we speak up now, together, our movement can force our leaders to action and free the world from the tyranny of fossil fuels.

With hope,

Iain, Joseph, Alice, Ricken, Diego, Kya and the rest of the Avaaz team

Dear friends,

This picture shows the bloodied bodies of dozens of innocent children, brutally murdered by the Syrian regime. As a parent, these images are almost unbearable, but I know we must not look away -- and that we can help end this slaughter. Our governments are deciding what to do right now. But they will settle for hand wringing diplomacy unless we demand firm action. Sign the urgent petition to send in thousands of UN monitors to protect the Syrian people in every region now:

The pictures from Al Houla, Syria, last Friday are almost too brutal to look at. I have a 5 year old daughter and I know it's only luck of birth that separates her from this horror. But my shock led me to write this today as I know there is something we can all do together to stop this.

Dozens of children lie covered with blood, their faces show the fear they felt before death, and their innocent lifeless bodies reveal an unspeakable massacre. These children were slaughtered by men under strict orders to sow terror. Yet all the diplomats have come up with so far is a few UN monitors 'observing' the violence. Now, governments across the world are expelling Syrian ambassadors, but unless we demand strong action on the ground, they will settle for these diplomatic half-measures.

The UN is discussing what to do right now. If there were a large international presence across Syria with a mandate to protect civilians, we could prevent the worst massacres while leaders engage in political efforts to resolve the conflict. I cannot see more images like these without shouting from the rooftops. But to stop the violence, it is going to take all of us, with one voice, demanding protection for these kids and their families. Click to call for UN action now and send this to everyone:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/syria_will_the_world_look_away_c/?vl

A child's death is tragic in any circumstance. The UN says 108 people were killed in the onslaught, 49 of them children under the age of 10, and the youngest was a 2 year old girl. 90% of the population of Al Houla has now fled their homes. As I put my daughter to bed last night, I tried to consider what the mothers and fathers and grandparents of these children feel. The sheer pain and desperation is unimaginable, but there will also be deep anger and hate for those that did this. Until all of us stop these attacks on the people of Syria, the cycle of violence will not end.

Let's not forget -- this bloodbath began over a year ago with thousands of people peacefully protesting on the streets -- calling, like their brothers and sisters across the region, for freedom and democracy. But the regime responded with brutality and violence -- murdering, torturing, abducting and laying siege to entire cities. The international community did not intervene, letting geopolitical concerns obstruct our responsibility to protect. Then, in desperation to protect their families and fight back against the repression, some took up arms. Now it is an armed conflict -- and if the world continues to do nothing it will become a full blown sectarian war that may last for generations and breed the kind of terrorist attacks we have yet to imagine in our worst nightmares.

When dozens of children are murdered in cold blood by the army and their militias -- it is time for serious action. Assad, his henchmen and his murderous army must be held to account and the people of Syria protected. Nothing the international community has done yet has pried Assad from his murderous grip on power. The few UN monitors on the ground were powerless to stop the Al Houla killings -- they only served to count the tiny bodies. But if we sent in hundreds of monitors to each of the fourteen regions of Syria, Assad's assassins would think twice.

The world looked away with Srebrenica, and with Rwanda. If all of us respond today -- we can make sure that these children's tragic deaths act as the tipping point for all of us everywhere to say NO MORE! But if we turn away, so will our leaders. Let's join voices from every corner of the earth and make it impossible for our leaders to ignore our cry. In respect for these dear children and their families, click to join the global call to demand a massive UN presence on the ground now!

http://www.avaaz.org/en/syria_will_the_world_look_away_c/?vl

The Avaaz community has stood with the people of Syria for fifteen months, denouncing the Syrian regime, calling for sanctions, supporting communities across the country with aid, and giving equipment to citizen journalists to get the word out about the violence. Let's today make the Al Houla massacre the watershed moment for change and insist that our governments no longer stand by shaking their heads and turning their backs.

With deep sadness and determination,

Alice and the whole Avaaz team

Thanks for taking action to save Rio+20 and the planet!

Now let's flood our Heads of State with phone calls asking them to act urgently to end fossil fuel subsidies. Choose your country from the drop down menu above, then post a comment to the right!

Wrong information? Email callin-errors@avaaz.org to let the staff know.

Tips for your call:

1. I'm calling to ask you to act urgently: the Rio+20 Earth Summit is on the verge of collapse and only bold leadership can save it.

2. I ask you to urgently strengthen Rio before we're locked into a weak deal. Countries like New Zealand, Mexico and Switzerland are still working to get a better outcome. Please join them in pushing for a stronger commitment to end polluter payments by 2015, putting this money to work on a cleaner, greener future, and pushing other governments to do the same.

3. Ending fossil fuel subsidies is the number one priority for the Rio summit. Two-thirds of the people around the world who responded to a UN poll said that fossil fuel subsidies should be the top agenda item for discussions by Heads of State.

4. The current agreement would protect almost one trillion dollars of government subsidies going straight to the fossil fuel companies destroying our planet. An outcome from Rio that favours polluters over people is a failure.

We only have two days until the end of the summit. The more people join this campaign, the more powerful our call will be -- help spread the word using the tools below.

I get e-mail.

I signed petition because yes.

They're coming to Finland. The extremist splinter group Desert Stream has kicked off their world tour of "gay cures" - seminars that teach gays and lesbians to hate themselves for being who they are. A practice so damaging it drives many to self-harm and even suicide.

On Sunday it's happening in Jyväskylä, Finland. But Finland is only one country where these "treatments" are being sold - this is a global tour, with multiple sessions in 10 different countries.

We can put a stop to it. By building the largest ever petition against these "gay cures" to be delivered to all 10 governments along the route - we're setting off a global domino effect to shut down these sessions and ban "gay cures" for good. It starts on Sunday, there is no time to lose. Will you call on the Finnish government, and the governments at every tour-stop, to stand against "gay cures"?

www.allout.org/endgaycures

Last month, the original author of "gay cures",  denounced his own research. And the biggest pusher of this quack "gay treatment", Exodus International, also recognized the damage caused by these fraudulent sessions. The ex-gay movement is breaking apart but one small group - Desert Stream - has split off and is ramping up this ridiculous practice. If we stop Desert Stream and make it illegal for them to do more harm, we can put an end to "gay cures" everywhere.  We will be delivering these signatures straight to Health Ministers around the world to demand immediate action.

While sometimes these "treatments" can seem ridiculous, they cause great harm to the people exposed to them. Organizations like Desert Stream teach people to hate who they are - and that they're a failure for being unable to change that. This kind of self-loathing has life-long effects and can even lead to suicide. The World Health Organization, along with psychiatrist associations around the world, has already denounced these "treatments" as ridiculous at best and suicidal at worst. But sessions are happening in Finland this week - with Australia, England, Lithuania, Netherlands, Philippines, Switzerland and the USA to follow.

Desert Stream is one of the last global groups to push for these dangerous "cures". We have no time to lose - the next session starts in Finland on Sunday. Will you sign now?

www.allout.org/endgaycures

Even though Exodus - the largest group leading the extremist Christian anti-gay crusade - has recently renounced "ex-gay treatments," they haven't stopped punishing people for being who they are or funnelling money into global homophobia. Exodus, Desert Stream and their followers sell the idea that people who are not straight should stifle it - they should smother it so deeply that they don't recognize or love themselves.

Charging up to 395€ for each "treatment" session, these groups make millions selling the idea that gay people are diseased just because of who they love. Desert Stream is currently selling "gay cures" in more than 30 countries.  Every reputable source has rejected this approach citing its nearly 100% failure rate and dramatic damage to self-esteem for gays and lesbians. Will you call on Health Ministers around the world to denounce and ban "gay cures"?

Thanks for going All Out.

Best,

Dear friends,

Australia could let mining magnates build an enormous coal port on top of the Great Barrier Reef! But a bank owned by the US public is key to the project and global pressure could cause the bank to pull out. The bank's chairman is in Australia for meetings right now -- click below to bring a global call for reef protection straight to him:

Australia could let mining magnates build one of the world's largest coal ports on top of the Great Barrier Reef ecosystem -- opening access to 8 billion extra tonnes of planet-killing coal and risking the survival of this entire amazing world heritage site.

Activists in Australia are pressuring the government and UNESCO is speaking out, but a bank owned by the US public is key to the project. Global pressure on the US bank now could bring international shame and spotlight environmental issues in the middle of the US election season. If they pull out, the entire crazy plan could be shut down for good.

Let’s up the pressure on the bank’s chairman Fred Hochberg and demand he halt funding for Great Barrier Coal. We have only days to act -- he's in Australia for meetings right now. Click below to join the call to save the reef and Avaaz will deliver our voices to Hochberg:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/the_great_barrier_coal_mine_global/?bZRgmcb&v=17183

The enormous coal port project would push the already vulnerable reef closer to the brink by constructing an export terminal inside its waters -- and by flooding the market with 8 billion more tonnes of coal exports. It would allow up to 20 ships each day to travel over this pristine area, shuttling dirty coal from inland Australia to China. We saw the kind of damage these ships can cause in 2010 when a ship ran aground, leaving a 3km gash in the unique reef.

Right now, the proposal is facing hurdles after UNESCO reported that coal development is damaging the reef, and the Australian government has intervened by calling for a review of the environmental assessment. If we can cut the funding off at its source we can bring another blow to the plan -- and help stop the entire mining operation.

The US Export-Import Bank is already embattled within US politics and wants to avoid any further controversy. A massive outcry right now could stop them from destroying the most spectacular underwater scenery in the world. Sign now and Avaaz will deliver the message straight to Hochberg:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/the_great_barrier_coal_mine_global/?bZRgmcb&v=17183

Millions of Avaaz members across the world have fought for our planet -- raising our voices at climate change negotiations in Copenhagen and Rio and securing wins to protect our oceans in Australia and the Amazon in Brazil. Now, let's come together again to protect the majestic Great Barrier Reef from mining greed.

With hope and determination,

Emma, Allison, Emily, Ricken, Paul, Wissam and the whole Avaaz team

Dear friends,

Putin's war on dissent may have met its match in Pussy Riot, the female protest group. The European Parliament is calling for an asset freeze and travel ban on Russia's corrupt elite -- let's join their call and make it a reality -- sign the petition:

Facing 2 years in jail for singing a song criticizing President Putin in a church, a member of Pussy Riot gestured to the court and said in her show-trial's closing statements, "Despite the fact that we are physically here, we are freer than everyone sitting across from us ... We can say anything we want..."

Russia is steadily slipping into the grip of a new autocracy -- clamping down on public protest, allegedly rigging elections, intimidating media, banning gay rights parades for 100 years, and even beating critics like chess master Garry Kasparov. But many Russian citizens remain defiant, and Pussy Riot's eloquent bravery has galvanized the world’s solidarity. Now, our best chance to prove to Putin there is a price to pay for this repression lies with Europe.

The European Parliament is calling for an assets freeze and travel ban on Putin’s powerful inner circle who are accused of multiple crimes. Our community is spread across every corner of the world -- if we can push the Europeans to act, it will not only hit Putin's circle hard, as many bank and have homes in Europe, but also counter his anti-Western propaganda, showing him that the whole world is willing to stand up for a free Russia. Click below to support the sanctions and tell everyone:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/free_pussy_riot_free_russia_a/?bZRgmcb&v=17357

Last week’s trial is about far more than three women and their 40-second ‘punk prayer’. When tens of thousands flooded the streets to protest rigged elections, the government threw organisers into jail for weeks. And in June Parliament effectively outlawed dissent by raising the fine for unsanctioned protest an astounding 150-fold, roughly the average Russian’s salary for a whole year.

Pussy Riot may be the most famous Russian activists right now, but their sentence is not the grossest injustice of Putin’s war on dissent. In 2009, anti-corruption lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, who uncovered a massive tax fraud at the heart of Russia’s power dealers, died in jail -- without a trial, on shaky charges, and with medical attention repeatedly denied. 60 of Russia’s elite have been under scrutiny for the case and its cover-up, and the sanctions the European Parliament is proposing are on this inner circle.

International attention to Russia’s crackdown is cresting right now, and the ‘Magnitsky sanctions’ are the best way to put the heat on Putin and help create breathing room for the suffocating democracy movement. Let’s give Europe's leaders a global public mandate to adopt the sanctions. Sign the petition now and share this with everyone:

http://www.avaaz.org/en/free_pussy_riot_free_russia_a/?bZRgmcb&v=17357

What happens in Russia matters to us all. Russia has blocked international coordination on Syria and other urgent global issues, and a Russian autocracy threatens the world we all want, wherever we are. The Russian people face a serious challenge, but we know that people-powered movements are the best cure for corruption and iron-fisted governments -- and that international solidarity can help keep the flame of these movements alive. Let’s join together now to show Putin that the world will hold him to account and push for change until Russia is set free.

With hope,
Luis, David, Alice, Ricken, Lisa, Vilde, and the Avaaz team

Everyone in America has been asking for 5 years now: “When are the Wall Street bankers responsible for crashing the global economy going to be prosecuted?” Now, unbelievably, the statute of limitations on bank fraud is about to run out - and there's still been zero indictments.

ENOUGH. Tell Attorney General Eric Schneiderman it's time to indict Wall Street for major fraud - or tell the world why not.

Eric Schneiderman, the Attorney General of New York, said when he was appointed in January that we wouldn't have to wait six months to start seeing results on prosecuting Big Bank crime. It's now *eight* months later, and there has barely been a peep from Schneiderman or his Financial Crisis Task Force, even as the statues of limitations are starting to fly by.

No fig leafs, no tokens - a real investigation of the biggest banks, or nothing at all. Sign our letter if no banker is Too Big To Jail.

AG Schneiderman has done superlative, excellent work in the past on keeping megabanks from being above the law, and made all the right enemies in the process - and we've been delighted to praise and defend that excellent work. But that's not a free pass to let the bad guys go free. It's simply not right to let the worst global banking fraud in modern memory go unprosecuted while the rest of us pay for the crash in bailouts and get kicked out of our homes.

He's one of the few public figures who's talked the talk. Let's walk the walk, and prosecute the big banks NOW.

Thanks for all you do to make this movement real.

Sincerely,

John Sellers, The Other 98%

Dear Peter,

One of MTV’s partners in Brazil, a blog called Testosterona, is pushing more than music - they have also got a guide for assaulting women ("first step: knock her out with a brick"). Their goal is simple: humiliating and promoting violence targeting women, gay men and trans people.

And MTV refuses to put a stop to it. Headquarters in both Brazil and New York have provided responses but no real action, while Testosterona continues to spread their dangerous ideas - branding it with MTV's logo, paying for it with MTV's money.

More than 8,000 All Out members in Brazil have already spoken up, but they need your help to dial up the pressure. We'll deliver our petition to MTV Networks President Van Toffler next week, along with giant posters of Testosterona’s most hate-filled posts.

Will you sign now and demand that MTV drop their partnership with Testosterona immediately? We need thousands of voices to make sure we don't get ignored:

www.allout.org/MTV

Testosterona accuses their critics of not being able to take a joke. But, their dangerous content has the power to do real harm.

In March, Brazilian police arrested two former contributors to Testosterona, who ran a separate website that also promoted hate against women, gay men and several other groups. Further investigation found out the authors were planning a mass shooting at a local university.

Brazil launched an investigation about the blog¹s promotion of rape and violence. But even that hasn’t been enough for MTV to take action. This reckless disregard for people’s safety cannot continue - MTV must be held accountable for where they spend their money.

Will you sign now to get the president of MTV Networks, Mr. Van Toffler, to stop sponsoring Testosterona and their hate speech?

Signed.

Testosterona accuses their critics of not being able to take a joke.
There's nothing more fun than telling a group of people they aren't humans and that they should be knocked out with bricks... I've had enough of idiotic "jokes" like this since people at primary school played music with lines like "gays bleed pink" and "gays aren't real people", how do they think it is to go into such a classroom every day... Go bury yourself under a mountain of bricks please if you think it is so funny.

Sum Of Us also has online petitions that try to influence things. Here's a petition against allowing "terminator seeds", seeds which grow crops but grow sterile seeds so the ones who sell the seeds can hope to control the farmers and force them to buy seeds from them over and over. A ridiculous idea that could of course stems from the irrational economic system of capitalism.
