I agree but not if it means my country will be a barren desert and that wasn't what I planned when I made it. If so I'll just leave the project because I don't want to write a story about a desert country.
We also have humans evolving and inhabiting our planet. That makes no sense either but when I suggested we shouldn't have that some people didn't want that either. I dropped that idea and I think you should also drop the idea of deciding what climate Blaist Blaland should have.

Originally I wanted something with more of an European climate and didn't pay a lot of attention to the country being much closer to equator but I can accept the somewhat higher temperatures and a different amount of rainfall to a degree for realism but desert crosses my line.

Also I've seen guys here make climate models saying anything from Blanaxon being literally Sahara to extremely humid, and all the not taking into account mountains, I'd be careful with saying your climate model should be what the world should use because it doesn't look very certain. I think it's better to leave it up to people to decide what climate they should have and if they want to follow your model or not.

If you really want the climate model, I'll suggest moving the entire continent further south until Blaist Blaland gets an European climate. I don't really expect people to agree with that though.

tbh taking into account mountains would probably make western blaland even drier but eastern blaland wetter (see north america)

with such a large continent anywhere you put it is going to be dry, look at central asia...

everyone is so obsessed with having huge swaths of land that they get deserts right in their vital regions (i think vincent is like, abu dhabi now)

remember guys, europe is small, and northerly (this actually quite fits tjedigar)

continents like himalia, aeridani, and hitron don't get affected as much because they are smaller, although they have local variations + elevation

tbh taking into account mountains would probably make western blaland even drier but eastern blaland wetter (see north america)
i'm not sure cause the nausikkak sea is in the way so i made it mild-ify the coastal climate and southern darvincia

it doesn't have to be like 100% accurate scientifically, because we're not scientists and if we were we'd be spending our time on something more useful, and we don't have a geology model and climate model and evolution model to do everything for us, we can cut some corners for ease at the expense of accuracy because we just aren't that proficient in the workings of an entire planet, but i mean we can at least try to make the planet somewhat coherent

maybe not accurate, but coherent at least and having a very obvious desert region be pretty wet is not coherent at all.

i suppose with the way universalis has gone, you can ignore it entirely because your climate probably won't ever matter

Kiverhean Confederation

A very loose confederation of sorts, similar to the Holy Roman Empire of Earth. Culture is spread across within the confederation, and trade has boomed a few times, especially in the east. Although the countries were dependent on each other and had a grand council, including Grand Leader being head of the confederation, sparks of internal conflicts within the west and the demand of more expansion within the east has led to some countries attempting to lead successions. Such disputes promoted the expansion of the Loviniosan Union, the so-called second great Loviniosan Empire, within these grounds.

Kol all the borders

There needs to be a place with so many tiny states it's one big blob of bordercolor.

I drew the main lake shapes back when borders were 2px wide, and I don't want a lot of messy black borders everywhere, like e.g. the tiny 1px islands around Kaeshar long ago. I refined them when we changed to 1px and then 1px diagonal but in the end I haven't studies lake shapes and wanted to keep their shapes on the map clean so that's the main reason. Of course the lakes on the map aren't the only lakes in the country but the very small lakes aren't shown.

Does it bother you?

- Why is Solea so underpopulated? I'd expect that people would settle it - After all, it's such a large nation. I'm unconvinced as to why there are so few people there.
Solea is underpopulated for any number of reasons. Contact with Aeridanish and Aiyotis (the "other world"; but probably not since everyone else manages to have a larger population anyway). Their style of agriculture is very spread out, almost integrated into the natural landscape, with few (maybe in the cities) designated, huge farmland/crop areas. This is possibly due to the governmental structure, which is based on tribes, that I have wanted to write about. Basically, every province is divided up into ekanĂș, which are self-sustaining village units usually with 100-5000 people, depending on location. These exist even within Soleani cities. Maybe these principles can be adhered to as a result of religious beliefs and traditions in the early years of Solea, though now religion is only really a casual part of culture nowadays, it is regulated by the government instead. Another reason is that the culture of Solea is very friendly to sexual relations and family units are often quite tenuous (often people live in groups >2, though there are plenty of m-f couples too), people will consume a native abortifacient plant which is pretty good at preventing females from giving birth to like twenty children. Since there's such a culture of sustainability and collectivity people probably don't choose to produce a bunch of children because they're not worried about passing down family lines or working their own family farm.

Quote
- Who defends Solea? What are their motives for doing so?
The militaries of the Free Federation of Amalthea. Mostly this is composed of the Auspik military (maybe Darvincian?) and probably Dtersaauw Sagua and Aitessek Naus, though you could probably find quite a few people in Solea willing to fight for their nation and their rights. Auspikitan (and the members of the FFoA) are motivated to protect the less able nations in the Free Federation because they are all ideologically similar leftist nations composed of ethnically Amalthean humans and saguans, promoting peace and unity. Obviously they need protection do protect each other.

Quote
Whenever I look at Solea I get a utopian vibe. What are the downsides of Solea?
I live in reality. I don't necessarily like reality most of the time. Some of the things Solea does and has are probably immoral or downsides according to people who think differently than me, and that's good enough.

- Why would Red Rainbow defend 680 million people?
I don't remember it being the only defender of all of Nausikkak, as far as I know some of Atomic's countries may also have military. But it would because it is like division of work on an international scale. Blaist Blaland supports Red Rainbow with food, technology and other supplies, in return for military protection. They don't give the protection for free but mutual benefit.

How can they logistically defend 680 million people from two different continents across millions and millions of square kilometers? Are they actually militarily capable of defending 680 million people from a foreign invader?
I haven't sorted out the details, but I didn't intend it to be the sole protector of the entire continent. Red Rainbow may have around 5-8 million soldiers probably. I may create a military for Blaist Blaland if there's tensions in the project (so far it was my impression there weren't big threats to Nausikkak and that it was a rather peaceful place, and therefore a large military being unnecessary).

- Is Red Rainbow capable of the logistics required to obliterate a smaller country potentially tens of thousands of kilometers away in the name of gay rights? Seems very expensive.
Yes, via nuclear missiles.

- Why do they care so much about homosexuality?
Because I care a lot about it and I designed the country to reflect some of my ideas at the time

Do they also care with such a passion about other civil rights like gender equality, for example?
Red Rainbow supports gender equality and race equality but it was a gay (communist) revolution that took over the country and that's what is its main focus. So no.

- Who lives in Red Rainbow? Is it made up of mostly heterosexual people like the rest of the world?
Probably, yes, there may be a higher fraction of LGB people due to migration, but I haven't considered that in details.

- Red Rainbow comes across to me as your personal utopia for gay rights, which doesn't really fit in with the rest of Universalis.
So? Is this something I'm supposed to consider?

- Like Solea, whenever I read the wiki page on Blaist Blaland, it's very one dimensional (like a Utopia) with everything being very clean, efficient and equal. What are the downsides to Blaist Blaland?

In Blaist Blaland, luxuries and consumerism is scarse. There's not a lot of individualism, which some would view as a downside - there's no luxury clothes, the clothes are very standardized. So are cars, houses, food products, computers, phones, TVs, etc. Some people would view it as a downside not having a choice between lots of different products. There aren't people living in large mansions with 10 swimming pools and so on. Some people would also find the policies on some issues, like alcohol ban, candy ban, smoking ban, to be limiting freedom. So overall I wouldn't call it an perfect utopia, but rather a place where I put some principles, like socialism, collectivism, rationalism and so on, above freedom (in some cases) and opportunity to become a lot richer than the rest (though there still is some) and variation in products.

- Shedinge doesn't make sense geologically unless Lysteriok is moving towards Aeridani, which currently it is not.
I put the islands pretty much exactly on the diverging plate boundary so idk. Tuto made some changes to it recentish though.

- The massive mountains to the south of Dotruga don't make sense unless Dotruga is on its own separate plate moving southwards.
I can't remember if I did those but originally they were much smaller and went in a different direction

- Lysteriok's eastern coast isn't geologically realistic, it looks like someone up scaled the eastern coast of Ireland (which is exactly what happened) and things can't be just scaled because one feels like it.
There's not much I can say, thats just how I wanted it to look. 'realism' be damned.

- The strait between Lysteriok's big interior lake and the sea around Kaeshar should be a river instead, if existant at all - having it be at sea level doesn't make sense because it's too long and narrow and would likely fill with sediments from the mountains to the sides. I'm unconvinced how it would form in the first place even then, but it might be possible.
If I'm looking at the thing you're mentioning then again, that's a change I didn't make.

- You seem to not contribute that much canon to Universalis besides military gear, however the New Lysteriok Federation is the largest nation in the world, and the likely place I will have to go back to if I want to make canon for Aeridani that's realistic and based on ancient traditions or whatever.
It's a collection of nations. If you wanted a bit of canon for something you could've asked me

My overall feeling is that we've been blinded by trying to achieve a high level of realism, it makes me feel like every change is under intense scrutiny, it's a motivation killer. The more this goes on the more I just feel like getting rid of everything and leaving a sea there.
That's basically what i feel like doing right now

Yes me too.

Meanwhile, I made a year converter on google docs https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17Lfj0cRGPg3_U4VPOXsFpvRI2UdLvSrj7Yl0v0bVgGw/edit#gid=0
so for you lazy boners (like me) who ain't got no time to calculate what years are what, I made a calculator to convert Universalis years to Earth years, and vice versa. Very convenient for me.
