Please help me. I made a texture on photoshop, how do I use it on universe sandbox? Do I have to save it anywhere? thanks!

Ok, either

You may have put the texture in the wrong folder
or You may have typed in the wrong name
If the file is called mars123.png just type in mars123
Does the texture of the planet turn to the moon?

Right click the file, click properties, in the first tab "general" there should be a line saying

Type of file: PNG image (.png)

or soemthing similar

ok, open it back up in photoshop and save as .png then delete the .psd in the media folder and put the .png in it. That should make it work

Hmm, can you upload the texture?

The texture should be about twice as wide as it is tall

ok try this

i had to paste your images together because of the way textures work

wasn't sure if having the aspect ratio kinda backwards would mess up things.

hmm, very strange. I'll try to do it myself and see.

Edit: it seems to work perfectly fine for me

Edit Edit

What's the exact procedure you used?

This is what i did.

1. Open to C:\Users\InsertUsernamehere\Documents\Universe Sandbox\Media
2. Drag and drop .png from location on desktop or other folder into C:\Users\InsertUsernamehere\Documents\Universe Sandbox\Media   Copy and paste should work too.
3. Open up Universe Sandbox
4. Start up any simulation
5. Select any object
6. Click on 2nd tab
7. Find textbox labeled "texture"
8. Type in "boom" (or whatever your texture is named)
9. Press Enter
10. Universe Sandbox will automatically add .png to the end of file name
11. Completed.

ok, when you select a body, there is already a texture being used, for example, if you click on the Earth, there will be a "earth.dds" file in use. Can i confirm that you delete this before typing in "boom"

also you have only 1 file named "boom" in your media file?

yes I deleted the texture name that was already in the box. And yes there is only 1 file with that name.

Ok I know the steam version stores it's textures in the same place the standalone does i think.
I don't know why else the texture is not working.

Uh... the .png is in the media folder? Try placing a different texture in the media folder and see if it works.

Just tried it with the boom texture provided above and it worked for me.

Try hitting the random button (next to the texture text box) and see where that generated file appears. Does it appear in the same folder you've placed boom.png ?

And you only have to type boom, it will add the png for you.
