Stock Market Game
« on: September 27, 2011, 02:43:56 PM »
Basic really
we all start out with $1,000,000

(i'm no economist person who stares at numbers all day long)

there are no turns, like irl. but double-post rather than edit your previous if you go twice in a row!

A post should look like this, although you don't have to follow the exact format

What you bought and how much(if you did)
What you sold and how much (if you did)

What you have of everything after the buying and selling (copy and paste this from your last post helps :)
this includes $, and how many of what stocks u have

A link to the yahoo stock charts so that we can verify you're not makingup numbers
the link must be of the chart! nawt the overview.

Rules:
1. no editing, you might be changing a decision
2. no deleting posts, i shall copy/paste this thread every few days and kill anyone who decides to remove a post
3. you can borrow money, but only from other players. just come up with an agreement. (theres no starting ponzi schemes here!)

oh and a note
some people live elsewhere, so you can buy/sell stocks after the stock exchange is closed :P

4.>>>THE COST IS AT THE TIME OF POST!!!<<<<
yes so if its a long post, double check to make sure it hasn't changed

5. no rounding!
!!!

also! i forgot one thing! you get 0.1% interest per year
i don't want this to be too complicated, so every single January 1st, we'll say, you get 0.1% of all your cash.
and yes i edited! oh noez
but the stock exchange is already closed, so no matter.
try not to do it like me though :D

Anyway i'll go first

I buy

500 shares of AAPL which costs me $199875

http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=AAPL+Interactive#chart2:symbol=aapl;range=1d;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined

i have 500 shares of AAPL
and $800125 remaining

We could maybe base it on an internal stock market...

It's not a real term. I mean a stock market (or markets) based on exactly what we do. We have no affect on the stock markets IRL, and thus it makes no sense to base it on that.
