White Dwarf Stars
« on: July 20, 2011, 05:53:13 AM »
The Star System I am trying to Model is a Binary - with a fairly wide gap between the centre Star and the outer Star.

The Centre Star is a Type T4 "Brown Dwarf" - which has a Mass of 35,788 x Earth
and a surface temperature of 810 degrees Celsius.

I do not have any problem with this - although I may have to modify the Colour, it should be Magenta, more or less.
That worked - I changed it.

Now Iota B - this is a White Dwarf ( blue-white ) - Surface Temperature is 15,000 degrees Celsius - okay so far.

Here comes the problem - it is a SMALL White Dwarf - and info says it COULD be as small as 0.17 Solar masses, and as high as 1,33 Solar masses.  So I specified it as 10,000 x Earth Mass.

I just discovered - I slipped up badly - 10,000 x Earth Mass would only be 0.03 x Solar Mass.
No problem then - Uni Sand will only let me use a bigger value - so I made it 100,000 x Earth Mass = 0.3 x Solar Mass.

Jinx and Iota B III, Iota B IV, Iota B IV are all Habitable - although those around Iota B are very small.
