Where are the Linux and Mac versions?
« on: July 04, 2008, 04:13:09 AM »
It is really disappointing that such a great piece of software is limited to the biggest crap of an operating system.

So when do you plan to make the versions for Linux and Mac?

This project originally began as something I was creating for my own enjoyment and so the need to run on multiple operating systems simply wasn't a consideration.

I'm sorry that I'm only offering Universe Sandbox for Windows. Unfortunately without a serious influx of funding it's just not going to happen. Do you know any investors? :)

2012 Update - January 4, 2012

A Mac version of Universe Sandbox is now in development and will be released sometime this year (2012). We don't yet have a more specific date. We expect it will be released simultaneously with a major update in the works for the Windows version.

Can someone please compile the gravsim420 for windows and post the exe.

My free version of C Studio ran out, and I'd like to check it out.

Haven't tried it, as I run XP via Bootcamp, but for the OS X users out there, have you tried running it via Wine?

What are you talking about!?

Clearly they are talking about the worst OS in the world. aka windows/micro$oft.

Seriously a shame that this is only for windows.
It's Probably one of the best, coolest softwares of its kind..
Yet it only runs on a crap operating system.

Sad.

But as a side note..
"Universe Sandbox" is the ONLY software Ive ever seen that made me wish I still had a copy of windows somewhere.

I know your intentions are good, Dan,
But it really is unfair to have something so awesome.. only go to the users of one OS.

Not everyone in the world uses windows, you know?
and many, many astronomers do not use windows at all.

Really though...
It's got to be good if it makes me contemplate acquiring a version of windows just to run/try it..
and honestly... I dislike MS/windows more than I do most things.  :o

Please..
Think about everyone..
Not just windows users , most of which who no next to nothing about computers.
