idea: once the battleground is fully owned by the red front, the terrain is restored from the backup at the battleground's formation and then a designated time for people to lay claim to zones is established until all zones are owned by different fronts

There's nowhere near 44 active people on the server or 44 who have shown interest in the BG, so having all the zones owned by different fronts (which would then still have only 1 on each front, with 44 people) seems very unrealistic imo.
Also you don't know if the RF will own the BG fully some day. And although I tried to start some discussions on weakening some of RF's defenses on the forum, I don't like the idea of just undoing everything people have done in the region. The terrain getting worn down by war over time makes the region interesting, but we'll also have to monitor how it affects the battles and maybe adjust the rules so attack or defense doesn't become too unbalanced over time.

Kol. You could probably make a lot of wool from some of the string.

I and Blotz have been considering a new Battleground-like area, that's more focused on just the bow- and sword-fighting. The rules would be basically that you can only use iron armor, bow, iron sword and arrows during the battle, and changing the terrain isn't allowed. That way we can build some zones that are balanced for fighting, where people can use the terrain or structures tactically.

Teams spawn opposite of an objective in the center, where they have to pull a lever so some kind of hopper timer counts down until either team wins. So it's like king of the hill.

I've made this test zone which is very simple, flat grassy area with some trenches. Anyone wants to do a test fight today?
