This weekend, probably SUNDAY! (i.e. tomarrow) haha! Nice but did you actually try launching that from earth, or did you create that there?

Yeah. I had expected to have a new release by now. At the moment I'm only comfortable claiming that it will be soon.

And eventually I hope to make spaceships look like something other than a cube or sphere. :)

There are already 'spaceships' in Universe Sandbox, but they just look like cubes.

In a future release (although not in the next release) I expect to make them actually look like spaceships (and perhaps provide some kind of simple thruster controls for them).

Huston, we have a problem....

We reached Jupiter instead of the Moon... It is a serious problem? :-\

If I recall the last time you posted, it was the same release 1. 400. 0 . 0 or whatever. Or do you mean finally a "new release" is coming out?

I mean it's been a while since I used Universe Sandbox.

Excuse me, Dan. Where is the relese? We have been waiting for weeks and we didn't get any explanation for the delay :-\. We can understand family reasons or lack of time, but we would like to have some news.

Rushing him will only make him rush features, and rushed features lead to bad quality.

Sorry that i'm a littel upset  ;D

How old are you? 5?

Was that necessary?

Again... I apologize for the delay. Please know that I am working on the update and I am humbled by everyone's enthusiasm.

Tonight I updated the UI library and the standalone updater library to the latest versions (which fixed 2 small issues no one would notice). I also added a toggle for all Hill Spheres.

Left to Do:
I have a few more file loading bugs to address and a bug that I introduced that creates galaxies incorrectly.
I've been working on a couple new minor features, but if they're going to take too long I'll just cut them out and release them in a later release.

Dan i would like to know if this next update will allow your software to use all of my core because i have a i7 Quad core and if your software could use all cores it would be great. It would run so much faster. Please let me know.

The next release will not have multi-core support.
(Although the menu rendering occurs on a different thread, this isn't what you mean.)

Microsoft is working on a multi-core programming library that I've experimented with and will make for a very noticeable performance increase (on multi-core systems) when implemented.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_FX_Library

I'm unsure what the timetable will be for adding this, but I'm definitely excited about it. I currently only require .NET 2.0 and adding the parallel support will require everyone to upgrade.

My two cents:

I can't understand that continuous begging, some posts are even turning rude!

I downloaded a trial version. Played an hour with it, and liked it. I paid what I considered a fair amount ($25) to download the full version. And I got it. I got what I paid for. WYSIWYG (What Your See Is What You Get)

I hope every transaction I've made would have been so transparent like this one.

I consider new releases and features a goodie I didn't weight into my purchasing decision when I made it. I appreciate them, but I wouldn't feel betrayed should they not exist. Of course, if the system malfunctions, I would expect a patch to solve it, but not with respect to new functionality.

I do find enriching for everyone a discussion on how to improve the software from current's terrific starting point (for example, how to more easily create complex systems, or the "habitable zone", or de "changing point-of-view", or the recording and logging, ...). Some other would prefer the UI to be simplified to lower the "barriers to entry" for non hard-core astro-enthusiasts by shortening the learning curve.

Of course, you always have the trade-off in consolidating what you've got and adding new stuff.

It's Dan to decide. I enjoy providing my humble point of view on which functionalities I feel more desiderable, but I can't put pressure on Dan to work on something I didn't pay for.

Regards and Dan, thanks, and keep it up
