Anyways, I looked at the redstone update page on the MCwiki and while there aren't really any changes, there are some updates and a video.

A crafting recipe for Nether Brick [13]

According to Jebs tweet, the crafting recipie would involve netherrack (obviously), but he wants to have it be more than just slapping netherrack together.

For the minecarts and stuff, they apparently mentioned that it would be similar to the railcraft mod: http://railcraft.wikispaces.com/ (this is what was linked from the wiki page).

Also, it sounds like even basic ciruit designs (except maybe the very simplest) will have to be remade or at least have an opportunity to be made more efficient. So, the tweaks will run from adjusting the timing to complete and utter redesigns.

I feel for those with massive circuitry projects and very complex redstone machines since there would be tons of components to check.

Hopefully they look into adjusting the timing of buttons because 3 seconds isn't always enough when you have to dodge the door.

I forsee great engineering projects in the future of Blacraft.

Yeah its appearing like all armour other than maybe the boots and helmet which can get non-protection enchantments will have to be re-enchanted to be useful again. Well, for now until we find out the protection changes.

The enchanted books seem like a good replacement to wasting a ton of diamonds on useless diamond armour though (which is probably why protection was nerfed, to balance it out).

With an enderman farm, a bunch of hours time, and about 3 stacks of leather and 9 stacks of paper, you could probably get the best enchantments, very easily.

Minecraft 1.4.6 tomorrow. Read about the protection enchantment changes, not sure if this is true or not:

"Protection enchantments protect from types of damage that armor doesn't protect against without an enchantment, like falling damage. Armor durability still doesn't decrease when protection-enchanted armor takes environmental damage."

Not sure, it is very vague. Guess we'll have to wait until 1.4.6 to see the full changes.

Messing around with the new enchantments in SP creative for my own info before I waste my time in Blacraft.

Enchanted books:
1 enchantment per book but can be anything. Out of 64 books, got thorns and silk touch once. Unbreaking was reasonably common, so it might be worth it for amazing swords and armour (not cheaper than naming armour and swords though).

Protection vs other enchantments
Protection armour still protects from fire, although protection 4 does not replace fire protection 4 like it used to. So it just got nerfed a bit I'm guessing, still good though. Unlike what the wiki says, protection 4 boots aren't feather falling 4 boots. They did interestingly enough, act as a sort of respiration. Making the time underwater slightly longer and reduced drowning damage.

My opinion: fire resistance is much more valuable now. However, do not be sad if you get protection, it's useful just not as useful. Definitely more useful than blast protection and projectile protection.

Thorns enchantment
Right now you can (in creative) add thorns to all blocks. This is a bug, however from my tests you can only get thorns on a chestplate via enchanting. So I'm not sure if you can reasonably add thorns to all armour in survival. However, it was rare when I tried enchanting books for it. Besides, having it on all armour pieces won't multiply the effects so it's useless.

Basically, on chestplates there seems to be a 70% chance on getting thorns, if you don't get it you probably got ripped off. Leggings only have one enchantment unless you add unbreaking to it (maybe thorns?), so hope for fire protection or protection. Boots and helmets appear to be mostly unchanged.

Spent about 100MB of data enchanting 5 pieces of armour for the 1.4.6 update today (about an hour and 45 minutes of blaze farming). Got a pretty decent set of caving gear that mostly fits my needs for new armour enchantment. Spent 30 diamonds on it so they better not change it soon!

Anyways, I got:
Chest piece with blast protection 4 and thorns 2, which is meh. 8 diamonds is a lot and thorns 2 is nice.
Leggings with protection 4, which is ok. Not the greatest but I'm not wasting 7 diamonds on something that could be worse.
A helmet with fire protection 4 and respiration 3. Personally, I couldn't ask for a better caving helmet.
Boots (did 2 but the first one sucked) with feather falling 4 and fire protection 4. Probably my favourite of the set.

I'll spend some more time getting some books with unbreaking 3 to give unbreaking to my sword, my infinity and caving bows and my boots.
