It's still a work in progress, I'll make a city, and cut the city in half between both countries. :P

To-do list:

Create custom textures players have to wear.
Finish the town of Boston.
Add navies (possible).
Thicken the forest on the sides to make ambushing areas.
Add underground tunnels (one out of x done).
Add more towns.
Add more battlefields.
Add more Chuck Norris.

It looks like the developers of Minecraft are ignoring the imo terrible limit which it is to have a world where the highest mountain is just about 60 meters tall.
These mods look interesting... I hope the cube chunk mod will be updated to 1.0 soon. I thought the lighting map/lighting update was planned partially to move the game to cubic chunks, but apparently not. To me it seems stupid to have 16x128x16 chunks when they could be 16x16 and in an "infinite" number in each direction... *2 km long Blarant*
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/437213-worlds-how-to-have-higher-deeper-worlds-65504-vs-128/#cubic

And hasn't the terrain become sort of boring since 1.8? I like the new features, but the total lack of beaches, and even worse, the fact that there are pretty much no mountains outside of special mountain biomes makes them look very repetitive and boring.
And the mountains in mountain biomes look so isolated... The dull grass and features which would probably look nice if they were only on the upper parts of the mountains just make them look sort of depressing and naked when they're filling out the entire biome with nicely shaped mountains, but besides from that nothingness. Some trees on the ground and some less sickly looking grass on the ground would make it look a lot better, I think.

Make it snow on altitudes above y = something.

Personally, I think I'm the opposite in some sense, I'd wanted less noisy generation for some time, and where I agree things have become sparser I think I'm used to less grand features like rolling hills and fields (Yorkshire and all that, only seen one mountain in life and that was miles away from here), and isolated features (we're full of isolated features like that, Brimham Rocks is a cool example).
Other than those, I agree with you that MC could do with having more detail in generation.

Yes, I also like the bigger biomes. But since the mountains are not higher than 60 meters at most, they would be more like hills and steep hills. I think they would look a lot better with some trees growing on them. There could still be flat areas with plains, but there should also be some special features in the normal biomes imo. It makes exploring a bit boring when you know exactly how the landscape will look as soon as you see the next biome. Endless taiga forest on mostly flat land, endless grassy, flat landscape, endless snowy landscape with a few hills, endless flat desert with cacti, or suddenly a lot of mountains. The biomes don't blend well anymore either, I think.

If there were some areas within some of the biomes with bigger hills or mountains, it would make them less boring. Especially since they are so big. It makes them too repetitive not to have any significant variation within them.

Playing a weekly snapshot of Minecraft for the future update of 1.1.
From jebs:
Sheep eat grass and regain their wool
Farmland is no longer destroyed by items and particles (haha, lol…)
    Added multiple languages
Added a “spawn mob” egg item to creative mode
    Corrected a setTileEntity multiplayer bug
    Corrected a powered rail bug
    Corrected a redstone update bug

Jeg er sikker på, at Minehåndværk vil blive invaderet af Pia Kjærsgaard nu. :/ Hun vil garanteret spise alle vores skovle. :(

*And is by the way deeply demused of Craftbukkit being more than 3 weeks late to release a recommended update for 1.0.*

Yes, I started a settlement a bit behind where I stood while taking the screenshot. The view is amazing... This will definitely be my new SSP world.
The desert forms a somewhat peninsula bordering a large ocean and the huge mountain on the image.  You can walk along the bays to get past the mountain (blue circles). The landscape is just perfect.
I tried climbing the mountain once, but only got to the end of the red line. HOW TO CLIMB THIS THING?? It seems pretty much round, but of course hollow, and extremely steep on all sides.
Maybe I can map it with Cartograph G...

I like how it seems like there is an unknown forest world on top of it. I want to see it!

And to add to the epicness, I think my settlement was founded on top of an epic cave.

Here's how to get on top of it: Zombe's Fly Mod or flying in Creative Mode in Minecraft.

What? Did someone just say "unlegitism"? It was probably just the wind, it's stormy.

And mapping it makes a useless map. :/
