What does the "Seed" do?

Im referring to the "seed" that you find when you click open simulation and the pencil icon on the simulations.

I believe it's simply a sequence that determines the particular arrangement of objects in the system and its characteristics. For example, if you create a random star system in the sim files, adjusting the seeds change the positions of objects orbiting the star.

Partially correct, it will change the exact numbers used to generate the system so using a different seed will create a different system and using the same seed and same settings should create the same system.
