How are the ideas coming along?
« on: May 05, 2010, 09:23:48 PM »
I am wondering about like the random system former, multiplayer, other things like that... Do you have any idea of how plausible or even when they might come out, and what other ideas there are?

A tool where you can add dust, to create uniqe rings, plus this would likely be easy to do, i hope dan includes something like this with the next release

I think some improvements and automation of some functions through the UI would be welcome:

Functions:

- The US 1 allowed the creation of the asteroid belts but only directly in xml file, it would be interesting if the US 2 allow to create asteroid belts through the UI.

- An old request: the US 2 would allow export the orbital elements of simulations with planets, asteroids and others, taken over a period of time determined by the user.

Improvements:

- Save data of luminosity and temperature determined by the user in a simulation as well as features such as positional information of objects ( like galaxies ) rotated by the user.

Do you mean like "every n years sample orbital elements x, y, z..."?

Yes, like others integrators like Gravity Simulator, Mercury, Solsyin, Winorsa, Astrograv...

But not only the x, y, z coordinates, but also the orbital elements.

Yeah I know, I just used the "x, y, z" just because.

I proably should have put a, e, i, peri, omega ("node"), theta (mean anomaly)

I am wondering about like the random system former...

Keep reminding me.

...multiplayer

There currently no plans for multi-player.

and what other ideas there are?

I've got lots of ideas that I look forward to working on over the next few months. Right now I'm fixing bugs, polishing the new UI, and creating tutorials using the new format.

A tool where you can add dust, to create uniqe rings, plus this would likely be easy to do, i hope dan includes something like this with the next release

You can create rings now. I do plan to expand and enhance the options over the next month.

- The US 1 allowed the creation of the asteroid belts but only directly in xml file, it would be interesting if the US 2 allow to create asteroid belts through the UI.

This feature is coming.

- An old request: the US 2 would allow export the orbital elements of simulations with planets, asteroids and others, taken over a period of time determined by the user.

I'm not clear on what you mean or why this would be useful.
Exporting the orbital elements is very doable, how would you want this to work?

- Save data of luminosity and temperature determined by the user in a simulation as well as features such as positional information of objects ( like galaxies ) rotated by the user.

This is also coming.

I'm with you, if the new ideas are not free, then I'm not going to get them.

I feel conflicted about charging money, but at the same time, if I wasn't charging money US2 probably wouldn't have happened. It hard to pay rent without charging a very reasonable price for a product I've spent the last year working on.

Not to jump in, but, I don't know what APODman would like to see, but I am thinking it will be where you can select a list of objects in the system, and a list of orbital elements, and they export to a text/excel file based on a given interval.

An idea is to have them readable by US, so you can actually have the live graphs.

Speaking of graphs, this may be biased... I like brining up ideas that I like... hehehe. The graph one FGFG (i think) came up with would be something I would like to see soon!

Oh, and the other type of graph, Mass (lin) vs Bulk Density (log)

i saw the reply to my comment by dan, i dont mean rings, i mean adding a random clump of dust, in different shapes and different amounts, or you can create dust with some sort of paint brush tool.
