Adding support for low-mass stars such as TRAPPIST-1
« on: May 04, 2016, 01:54:05 PM »
Universe Sandbox² appears to have some sort of minimum star mass that prevents any object under 0.1 Solar Masses (M) from being a star. What I mean by this is that if I place any star and change the mass to <0.1 M, the star appears to turn into a planet looking object (I assume it is supposed to be a Brown Dwarf?). The problem with using 0.1 M is that the lowest mass for a Hydrogen-Helium fusing star is ~0.075 M and an example of this being an issue is well, TRAPPIST-1 with a mass of 0.08 M (~83 Jupiter Masses). I'm not sure if 0.1 M is just a placeholder for now (since Ubox² is in alpha) or is this planned to be fixed.

Personally I feel getting this fixed is more important than getting the supernovas (I mean it would be a pain to update all the code for it), but that is my two Cents. Don't get me wrong I love Ubox² I just want to know if this last "pet peeve" of mine will be fixed.

Here are the bodies for the system if you need them, but the issue is a big problem, but here are the bodies to show you.

And here's the system if you need it.

In February 22, 2017, 4 more planets have been found orbiting TRAPPIST-1, making a total of 7 planets.

It's one of the biggest scientific discoveries in modern history.
Almost as many planets as our Solar System, and they're rocky like Earth, though g may appear gaseous due to the thicker atmosphere and clouds.

And possibly call them the 7 Dwarfs.

Well apparently, US2 updated with its own TRAPPIST-1 system, so I guess I made my sim for nothing.

I made a fictional version of the TRAPPIST-1 System based on the actual US2 version.
