Observation of Gravitational Waves

Very interesting - a paper about the first observation of gravitational waves has been released confirming the rumors that they've been discovered. From a merger of two black holes.

https://losc.ligo.org/s/events/GW150914/GW150914_tutorial.html

this tutorial walks you through downloading the ligo data and doing some signals processing and analysis on it.

it's really quite nice, and you go from looking at what seems to be random noise to locating the signal and being able to actually listen to it
