There is definitely an improvement in collissions, but many other features remain lacking. The angle and your graphical settings may also be affecting it, but overall it has improved greatly.

When you buy Universe Sandbox it should update to the newest version automatically.

Shhhh shhh there there. No question is stupid no matter how obvious it is to others.Right click universe sandbox on steam.Then go  to properties from there go to beta's look for the most current update then boom you have the ethereal simulator that is universe sandbox

Actually...  :)

The latest update is not available in the Betas tab. We put the old alpha versions there and some experimental versions.

You shouldn't opt-in to anything to run the latest version. You can, however, make sure it's set to "NONE - opt out of all Beta programs." This should ensure that Steam downloads the latest update available.
