i'm willing to give ftb continuum a chance but i have a feeling it wont work out very well. i think it might break all ic2 recipies given it hcanges all crafting recipies...

(old post)
So Continuum has this really weird tool progression thing where we can't even make stone tools until we do this complicated crafting thing. Additionally, we end up needing to do weird shit like... waiting 10 minutes to craft a diamond sword??? (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vHKCS4T4pMXN3fITKoqef2JElkDlpT-5xtwZgQnnenA/edit) Yeah, I think we should use another mod pack.

I suggest Revelations or something like that pl0x

just to update and make it canonical for people not always on irc, the final config we settled on is

direwolf20 (newest version as of now i think it's like 1.11.0 but don't quote me)
+ coroutils + weather mod (may 20th and may 18th edition respectively)

if you get strange problems with the twitch launcher ask rod about it because he had the same thing

our ic2 setup

due to an axe we have that cuts down a large spruce tree in about 2s we're pretty heavily reliant on charcoal power generation. in the back you can see 6 generators, which feeds power into an MFE, which stores 1000 wood worth of power.

in the front we have basically one of every machine and 4 electric furnaces -- 3 of which are constantly turning wood into more charcoal. fiah figured out how to hook things up so that the output of the macerator is piped an electric furnace and all of the machines feed their outputs into a single output chest (of course i have my doubts this will scale well).

and we have 2 mining lasers now

architecturecraft-1.12-3.80.jar
ComputerCraft1.80pr1.jar
Mekanism-1.12.2-9.4.13.349.jar
mystcraft-1.12.2-0.13.6.00.jar
Psi-r1.1-60.jar
Random+PSIdeas-1.11e.jar

REMOVE Psi-r1.1-59.jar

2x ic2 nuclear reactors in fluid mode, producing just over 1900 eu/t with 2 quad uranium rods per reactor. extracts 48 Meu/rod, compared to 2 Meu/rod from the simplest possible reactor design in eu mode. the coolant loop circulates the reservoir of 512 m^3 of coolant every 3 minutes and the 14 steam boilers circulate 140 m^3 of water every 8 minutes.

converting this water boiling rate to real world units gives 711 MW, which is actually pretty consistent with what a nuclear powerplant outputs

one could achieve an equivalent amount of power generation by keeping 200 generators supplied with 10 pieces of coal per second. actually now that i think about it that's by far cheaper to build
