until windows becomes open source (there's been talk of it), i'm staying on windows 7 and 8

in the event that the business model of windows 10 is absolute bullcrap, i'll actually own my operating system :)

The only real improvement from 'upgrading' from Windows 8 to 10 for me was to get rid of their spam message imploring me to upgrade all the time... Performance has got worse, their new Photo viewer, video browser and all those other things are so clearly made for tablet users and people who break down mentally if they see more than 3 buttons on an interface, so I just set it to use the old ones anyway. The improvements are minor and don't make up for the performance slowdown I've had and Windows 10's eagerness to collect and send info about my com (which I've done what I could to deactivate).

I installed Windows 10 on a fresh machine which probably circumvents some performance issues upgraded users may feel. Although it's laid out differently, I do love how it looks.
Aside from the whole data mining operation under the guise of 'connectivity' and 'ease of use', I said no to what I could. Of course they hide all these settings under a tiny little button dwarfed by the huge 'express install' button in the installer.
