I FIGURED OUT HOW TO SAVE CITY LIGHTS

OKAY! If you have saved the object with the city lights, all you have to do is
1. Pause the Simulation
2. Spawn the Planet/Moon
3. *IMPORTANT* SET THE TEMPERATURE TO THE AMOUNT IT WAS SAVED AS!
ex. If when I saved the temp was 10 C, when you spawn it back in, set the temperature to EXACTLY 10 C!

I already figured this out and commented about it on another post but I'm glad you shared it with everyone  :)

It also doesn't have to be exactly the same temp. I always set it to 15C then start the Sim even if the planet was hotter or colder than that.
