Bug: Lighting Glitch [EDIT: Not a bug]
« on: August 12, 2014, 08:37:47 PM »
So I made a solar system, I made a random rocky planet far from sun. When planet is far, the planet acts like there is no sun, so the planet will affect the random sun without the solar system's sun.

Lighting doesn't do anything on the log.

Edit: This is not a bug.

If you move the planet closer does it work?

Light from a star becomes significantly less the further you are from it.

If the planet is closer to the sun, the planet will choose the sun that is closer to the planet.

Also if the planet orbiting the sun is too dark, the planet will choose the random sun (very bright and farthest).

I guess it just chooses the star with the highest apparent magnitude.
Unless you mean it chooses the "Phantom Sun" thing

But seriously...
If you move the planet closer does it work?

If the planet is closer to the sun, the planet will choose the sun that is closer to the planet.

Also if the planet orbiting the sun is too dark, the planet will choose the random sun (very bright and farthest).
so you are saying the closer to the star the brighter the planet?

This is normal. This is how stuff works IRL.

Also US2 graphics aren't realistic.

If you put the rocky planet (or asteroid) farther away from the sar, unknown star (very very far away) will affect the rocky planet instead of planet got all black and dark.

And is the "unknown" star larger?
Is it brighter?
How far away is the star and the "unknown" star?

Unknown star is invisible and cannot be selected.

Create the planet without the sun, check the sun distance from the planet inside the planet's status. You will see how is far away.

That's the Phantom Sun. If you don't want it, go to the eye icon in the bottom left, click on Lighting, and change it to "Realistic".

Ha, ha. Yes they are. They are the best graphics I have ever seen out of a simulator. Think about it; can you name one simulator with better graphics and details?

Space Engine isn't really a game, it's just basically a very pretty, very large 3D explorable photograph. If you had this kind of graphics+detail in an actual game you can play (not downgrading SE; It's an awesome thing IMO) eg. US2, then you would be right.

Wubbzy, if you think that the graphics in US2 are bad, then I would like to see you do better. GA have been working like dogs on this thing for more than 3 years and your'e complaining? Please don't, and be thankful you even get to see pictures of a new game that hasn't been publicly released yet (even better, you get to TEST AND PLAY THE GAME), unlike Half Life 3 and Portal 3, which have ZERO info leaked.

Actually, these game aren't going to be released.
But yeah, you should be VERY happy that GA gave you this game, think about it for a moment.
There are people that would have dreamed of being in the alpha, and you what you do ? You say like a simple 10 years old child, but I think you are more intelligent than this, so don't criticize the game anymore.
