was just looking on http://dandixon.us/programming/universesandbox.htm and was wondering what kind of pc dan has....i mean seriously...my current specs are as follows:

Amd Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition @ 3.2 ghz
4gb 1600 Mhz ram
and a
BFG GeForce GTX 260 vid card with 896mb video memory

and i can say that i would have some speed issues (although not massively...small but noticeable amount of lag) with some of those scenes

kinda hurts a mans pride lmao

also if your using US list your specs....id like to see how mine compares with the average user =)

I just got a new computer yesterday and my specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit
8192 MB RAM
Pentium Dual-Core CPU  E6300 @ 2.80GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.3 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275

My Windows Experience index is 6,3:
Processor: 6,3
RAM: 6,3
Graphics: 7,4
Gaming graphics: 7,4
Primary hard disc: 6,9

And I love this! It's so fantastic to see all the particles in the galaxy collissions being calculated to perfection at very high timesteps!
If I set the timestep to 10.000 years in the Andromeda-Milkyway collission, one real second is 400,000 years with 1x particles multiplier!

32-bit Windows Vista
3 GB RAM
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6 GHz
NVIDIA Graphics Card

3 Gigabytes of RAM is good right? I see Bla has only 8000 MB. Man, Phun must take alot of RAM, it asks me to install more when I run alot of stuff...

Idk why I thought it was Pentium. I don't know anything about the stuff in them, but boy do I know how to work them!

My computer is bad.  Tongue

Processor: 5.1
RAM: 5.9
Graphics: 3.1
Gaming: 2.5
Hard Disk:5.7

Is my computer Windows 7 now? I get those screen preview when your mouse hovers on the thing in the taskbar. I was reading up on W7 and found that W7 does that.

8000 MB = 8GB. Smiley
But 3 GB is also ok, usually most games require at most 2 GB to run, and games should be some of the most requiring programs, so...
But Universe Sandbox is a simulator, and the most important in simulators is the processor, becuase that's the one that calculates everything (the positions of stars etc.). Your computer should be fine at Universe Sandbox.

I paid something equal to 359 USD for my graphics card. It causes some problems, but when it works it's fantastic. I have no problems with graphics on the games I've installed so far, I can run them at maximum graphics. I guess I just have to wait until there are some updates for the drivers so it will be more stable.
But everything is better than my old computer. Wink

After what I remember:

3000~ MB RAM
NVIDIA graphics, 640 MB
2.66 GHz CPU (Dual)
And Windows XP, I believe.

From the (too short) one hour of trial I had, I believe I found out that I have performance problems when ... viewing larger amounts of objects.

Oh. And things turned messy when I sped up time a bit too much.
