Any explanation for this? I don't know what it means.
« on: May 06, 2014, 05:05:34 PM »
Our current plan (subject to change) is to start selling "early, early access" or "open alpha" here on this site first (which will be a Steam code, so as if you had bought it via Steam), continue improving and iterating for a few more months, and then launch on Steam as "Early Access".

Does this mean if I get this "Open Alpha" I will in essence have UBOX beta on steam? Will it be on steam at all? Will open alpha be free? Does anyone have a idea?  :o

Yes. Open Alpha is what we were calling the beta release.

Will it be on steam at all?

Yes, it will be distributed via Steam, but you won't be able to buy it on Steam initially. You'll buy it from this website.

Will open alpha be free?

No.

Does anyone have a idea?  :o

Yes.

I'm not asking for a release date, because I know you stopped that, but which month do you estimate it will come out? Gabriel.dac said maybe July, but based on all the improvements you are planning to make, that's like giving a miscarriage. I'm thinking August-October has a chance, though. Great work team, if you removed most of the bugs present this day, I think it would probably be ready now. Again, I have to say nice work. Keep it going, you awesome bau5's.

I don't think that they have an estimate for the Open Alpha yet. One of the biggest hold ups are making collisions look realistic. They have tried several approaches, and while making progress they aren't up to the standards they expect for the Open Alpha.

So when collisions are working like they want them to, then ask for an estimated date for the Open Alpha.

We probably won't be announcing the release date until a week or two before we release it. That said, we're going to release something this year, but we don't know when yet.

So this means, I buy on UBOX.com, but I use on steam? And the open alpha might be around 20 USD, right?

Yes. For open alpha we'll be selling Steam codes via Humble Bundle that you will use to unlock the game on Steam (even though you won't be able to buy it via Steam for now).

We're doing this to slowly ramp up the number of users before we get hit with the massive number of new users that will likely occur once we're available for purchase on Steam itself.
