The first one is probably from a early Alpha stage. The second one just has the effects of the atmosphere on all the planet, while on the first one the atmosphere is mostly just a ring around the Earth.

Why do solar flares look like paper ribbons? They're good, but I think they should be worked on in A•7.

hmm, maybe the ocean and the clouds distort it so it looks like that?

No. What do oceans have to do with stars? I'm talking about Solar Flares.

Well, it IS an alpha, I'm sure the solar flares will get an art upgrade at some point.

That is inevitable. Look at the detail on the artificial craters for A•7!

Support for ther languages shouldn't be that hard, just hire a few bilingual kids or something in the languages that you want and tell them to convert the typography. For now, you should just work on injecting it with even more GA AWESOMENESS!!!

It would be interesting to see an Arabic or Hindi US, I have to say.

Hey I could be a french translator !! (Well, I suck a little speaking English, but I can translate it quite well !)
I think with more languages (like 10-15) the game will be more purchased, for example, my cousin seen US and he wanted to play it,so I let it play universe sandbox, but he doesn't understood anything !!
Like Xriqxa said, the game should have more langages other than English.  ;D

The first picture shows our new method using volumetric atmospheres.  While the second picture looks nicer from a distance, it didn't work as well when getting close to the planet.  Volumetric atmospheres are a work in progress still and when they are finished they will look more similar to the second picture.

At the moment, I have to say the atmospheres look a little unreal. Perhaps have an effect that only applies a little of the Second Picture effect on the planet and have a full effect on the horizon, it would seem a lot more realistic.

Nope, they just sort of pass through each other and the star rockets off at a significant percentage of light speed, with smaller mass and diameter black holes, larger ones just swallow the star. Black holes are well, wierd right now.

No idea if the behavior will change in Alpha 7.

Check out Michael's video about distortions: http://youtu.be/mQ0hS7l9ckY

Is this effect simulated in Universe Sandbox?

There's already the gravitational lens effect.

Also, which particular effect are you asking about? The video shows lots of distortion effects.

When will we be able to save a simulation? I can't seem to find that option.

That would be stupid. There are some who don't know what US2 is or just don't have the same time zone (they can be sleeping ) or don't check US2 regularly, like you and I.

I'm sorry, is US2 a god now? I don't think many people in China or Russia or Laos or Thailand or whatever want to be up at 12:30 AM just to get US2 for free.

I meant the galactic front-to-back light distortion.
It would basically mean having to continually keep the past of the simulation in memory, and then letting you see more distant parts of it as it were in the past. It would be cool but if you zoom in or out on a galaxy, it looks the same (just takes up more or less of your view), so the program clearly doesn't take into account a finite speed of light visually. So I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

But I'll wait! And since half the globe will be the night, the game will get the most dedication and a little, and the rest will get nothing!

That a stupid way to think, why half of the globe would have the game for free and not the other ?
When it's 12:30 for you, it's 00:00 for me !!

Yes, that's all he has given. I expect towards the end of the summer, maybe mid-fall. Somewhere inbetween late-August and early-November

Question: what exactly did GA do to make US look so......... Fresh?
