Something that annoys me about Astronomy
« on: May 03, 2011, 04:06:08 AM »
why is it when scientists (and people in general) talk about planets around other stars they call it a solar system?

there's really only 1 solar system and that's ours, with our lovely star Sol.

a system around another star, Antares for example should be an Antalar system.

it's bugged me since i was a kid. :-\

i was shouting at the TV it's a pegalar system :)
