Title: subtle convention
Post by: vh on May 16, 2013, 12:34:39 PM
|-2|-3|+4| = 2
|-2|-3|4| = -10

(and this is why abs() is better)

ok then you pony

|-2|-3|+4x| = |-6+4x|
|-2|-3|4x| = 2-12x

no |x| means absolute magnitude so |-4| = 4

|-4||-4|+|-2| = 4*4+2 = 18

the problem i'm discussing in this thread is that

|a|-b|+c| = |(a|-b|)*c|
but
|a|-b|c| = |a|(-b*|c|)
