Title: Research
Post by: Diellur on October 22, 2012, 12:15:47 PM
Hello all,

I am working on a research project which involves sending a spacecraft into the outer solar system. As part of this, I need to investigate the various transfer orbits between Earth and the destination (probably Mars, although this might change). Universe Sandbox seems to be a good tool, although I am after some input in terms of functionality. Can this software account for a small object of given mass (the spacecraft) and, when selecting the destination from Earth, calculate the required transfer orbit?

Appreciate the help.

D.

no it cannot. you can input the exact vector and position of any object but there is no way to calculate a transfer orbit.

it can, although, simulate satellites and spacecraft.

Mudkpiz is correct, there's currently no transfer orbit feature.
